1996 A32 STILLEN SMX MAXIMA: 3.0 LITRE VQ30DE ALLOY V6

I have always loved Nissans.

When I bought it was factory stock with the urethane body kit, FTSB, 25mm lowering springs, Stillen rotors and brake pads, Stillen race seats, floormats and a modified high flow POD air filter with an O2 sensor custom mounted in it.

The previous owner did put in KONI yellow adjustable nitrogen gas shock absorbers, KONI performance shock mounts and dust boots - so she rides like a dream. :)

Since buying it (about six months ago - March 2005) I first put in a 2.25" big bore cat-back exhaust system. Then removed the catalytic converter and installed a COBY high flow resonator (they do produce a 'raspy' note to your exhaust - especially when being pushed hard but are well worth it).

I waited for a couple months before doing anything else, just revelling in the increased power and fantastic sound from the cat-back. But as they say "Too much power is not enough!" so I had Jason at Woolf Mufflers (Auckland Tuners) install a 2.25" big bore front system, flexi joint and chromed high flow extractors that bolted nicely onto the engine block. Also I had Peter @ Prestige Automotive (the guys in NZ who made the SMX Maximas) put a lovely little 320mm steering wheel.

I took these photos in my work carpark. Maximas kick ass and especially so for the money.

Performance Modifications: Full 2.5" RPS/Woolf big bore exhaust system / High Flow Woolf Headers

Exterior Modifications: Hyper Chrome Advanti Photon 17x8 Magnesium Alloy Wheels / 235/45 ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza G3 Tyres (Real Nice) / Stillen SMX Polyurethane body kit.

Suspension Modifications: KONI Yellow nitrogen gas shock absorbers / KONI shock absorber dust boots / KONI shock absorber mounts / Stillen FTSB / 30mm Eibach Lowering Springs.

Interior Modifications: Z-Racing 320mm Steering Wheel / Stillen SMX lightweight Race Seats.

This car is fast enough as it is for the moment - fast enough to embarass the big V8's and turbo 4's that prance around Auckland...haha.

Just had an APEXI SAFC-II installed and dyno tuned to my car and it was worth every five cent piece. My SMX now pulls cleaner, harder and smoother than it ever has before, the redline has been increased and the strange power drop I had at 2,000rpm has been removed. All in all I'm hoping for a high 14-second pass when I race next. :)

Monday 27 May, 2007: been changing my Ne / High and Low throttle points on my SAFC-II and have noticed a massive difference with low down torque and acceleration to the legal limit when entering the motorway. BIG SMILES!

Next - front vicious limited slip differential and 00VI variable intake manifold should take me down to the low 14-seconds.

Please check out our website 'www.maxima.org.nz'- The Home of Cefiros and Maximas Down Under...' and scroll down to view the video of my first drag race in January 2006. Thanks.
