Here are my THREE running 61 Imperials.
These are the most phenomenal examples of the Fins & Chrome Era. Far more than the commonly-seen 59 Caddy: Higher fins, wider, longer, heavier, AND more beautiful (rather like Catherine DeNeuve vs Madonna in the Cone bra)!
I have restored the Teal one: all ivory leather inside, but that paint is the original color - it's like a butterfly's iridescent wing!
The White is one of just 429 convertibles made!
It's currently getting a full restoration in prep for a cross country rally (Philly to San Rafael, see
this is the website for the 2006 Great Race, a cross-country rally for cars 45 years and older. .
The "pink" one (it's actually a salmon-like color that Chrysler called 'Malibu Tan', but I call 'Barbie Skin') is all original, a little worn at the edges, but 45 years will do that.
All have the electroluminescent dash lighting, pushbutton shifters, square steering wheels, tri-tone horns, ultra-lux interior (leather in the white and teal, brocade in the pink).
These cars have a monster 413 V-8 that will cruise all dat at 90+ (not that I'd know that ;) of course). Imperials had the first curved side glass (not slabs like contemporaries). All power inside (even the vent windows!). Visit my project website, about restoring the teal one at
