chefspl's 2001 Daewoo Lanos

A new recipe for SQ Au SPL

List of ingredients
1 Red Top OPTIMA Battery
1 JENSEN Head Unit
1 EARTHQUAKE EQ 4000px
1 set EARTHQUAKE .5" Tweeters
1 set EARTHQUAKE V-TEKs 4"
1 set EARTHQUAKE V-TEKs 6.5"
1 Custom built Box 5.5 Cubic feet
Made for 2 15" subs with a 70 sq inch vent
2 EARTHQUAKE 15" MAGMA Subs
1 EARTHQUAKE D3 (sub amp)
1 EARTHQUAKE 150.2 (4 channel)
3 Yellow Top OPTIMA Batteries
2.5 Bulk kits of HUSHMATT
Power wire 4 gauge

When I first started to work on my Daewoo, on the sound I was always told that power is the key. So if you want a loud car you should upgrade the battery under the hood. I did that and increased my db. Once you go above a 1000 watts of power you should think of adding a second battery. I had three batteries for just 400 watts and it was great. I put the power in the car first so I know that I would always have enough power for what ever I did.

The next piece of information that I received was sound damping matterials are the next key. So I started to add the Hushmatt. It was to help the sound waves move around the car without losing the energy by moving all the panels.

I learned even more about car sound system that to make a loud bass you need the right box. I had 5.5 cubic foot box made out of truepan. Some subs you need a vent in the box to allow them to perform best. The vent I have is tuned to 47 Hz the vent is 70 sq inches.

The rest you can take about any equipment and turn it into the great sounding car. I just like the EARTHQUAKE items. I know that they will perform. The head unit I have is a low cost JENSEN, I just have an EQ to go with the head unit. I'm sure you noticed that is an Earthquake EQ. No I'm not sponsored by them I just found a company that will do what I want.

I just stripped my Daewoo's Subs that I had in here to put in my SPL vechile. I bought a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback. It will a 2-3 Month build going on inside the civic everything will be stripped and all metal hushmatted. I also will be have a wall that will be made of 1" MDF doubled up. The wall will be about 17-19 cubic feet. Will be working on the building a Honda page now.
