This is the first project of many more to come. My name is Dorsey Thomas and I am the owner of a classic, vintage, custom car dealer known as Country Boy Classics and Restorations located in the Stone Mountain Georgia area. We are a new company and thought that it would be a good idea to start with this nice Nova we named Projet67. We brought this car in May of 2005. The car was in pretty bad shape but was driveable. Since then, we have replaced the battery, fuel pump and filter, head and valve cover gaskets, ENTIRE interior, coil, spark plugs and wires, oil and oil filter, flushed radiator, distributor cap, rotor button, and have installed a Pioneer CD Player, 2 6x9's, and 2 6 1/2. The car drives GREAT. Smooth ride. No hesitation. Has plenty of power. It has an inline 6 but runs like a small V8 because of some cool mods we did to the intake, carb, and lifters. The car is scheduled for a paint job within the next two weeks and a exhaust system shorty after that. I am looking to sell this car but I want to finish the projet first. I do have both bumpers, and all the chrome body trim. As well as new turn signals, dome light, and some fresh 18in tires and rims. I want to put maybe 19in wheels but the 18's look good too.
update:
Car is doing well. Put on a new alternator to get more power. We are having a little trouble though. Car runs good for a few miles then it will begin to stall out and even switch off. But will restart with no problem. I think I mught have a little trash in the fuel filter which I will replace today (11-1-05). I also can't get power to the electric door opener for the drivers door. If anyone as any ideas towards my little problems, PLEASE feel free to email me any suggestions.
OK, new update:
Found out the problem. Gas tank might have a hole in it causing it to lose pressure when you stump the gas pedal. I drove the car for about 15 miles just crusing but as soon as I jumped on the highway and laid my foot on the gas, she stalled. Need new gas tank. Anyone have one for sale? I dropped the car off to the paint shop too. She is getting fitted for a new dress (paint) and I am buying her some new shoes (rims) soon.
A FEW NEW UPDATES:
Nova has been taking a slight vacation. It is at the paint shop getting fitted for a new dress. (Paint) The below photos show the sanding down of the car. We had to put a little bondo on the trunk due to a VERY, VERY small dent. The body has been sanded down to the bar metal and smoothen out to prevent the pain from having swirvel marks. I know the paint is going to spary on good and smooth. Only thing it needs after paint is gas tank, exhaust, dome light and sound system finished, rims and tires, weather-stripping, and a door openning mechanism. After the car is completed, we will take it on a test drive through Georgia and then its time to sell and start on the next on(A 1967 Plymouth Fury II 4 door) Looking forward to this.
UPDATE!!!
Car is doing well. Is now primed down and getting fitted for her new dress. I enjoyed doing this car so much, I went out and brought a 2 door Chevy Nova II coupe. This will be the car my wife and I do for ourselves. I still have a way to go to complete this 4 door but I am getting closer by the day. All the dents and dings were removed, all bondo was stripped and replaced with metal, the sound system will be complete with 1 extra 6x9 and 2 12in subs with amp, the gas tank needs replacing and the door handles and window cranks will all be new and fresh. The car will be up for sale once it is finish. If you are interested, STAY TUNED!!!!
This is the Nova primed down and ready for paint. The car is a LOT behind schedule so we must work quickly to get it ready. The paint guy (Custom Works by Tyrone Bush) called on 12/20/2005 and said the car was finished and ready for pickup. Only thing left now is the gas tank, bumpers, finish the sound system, done light, weather stripping, painting of the under body and wheel-wells, painting of the dash board, and the door locks, handles and window cranks. It seems like a lot but it really isn't. I will have more pictures of the fresh paint job after Christmas. Merry Christmas to ALL!!!!!
This picture is of a Chevy Caprice I saw in Riverdale Georgia after I dropped my car off to get her new dress. This car was painted EXACTLY like a Sprit Can. It has 24in Wheels and tires, matching interior, with the Sprit Logo and "Obey Your Thrust" going around the the fenders and "24oz" on the doors. It was very nice and being followed by another Caprice dressed up like the Reese Peanut-Butter Cups candy wrapper. I could only get one picture because we were at a traffic light that just changed. I thought this was something to share with you guys. I hope you like.
UPDATE!!!!
This is it. The car is 90% finish. Has the new paint job which is very nice. The car has undergone road test and is running REAL good. Carb. needs to be adjusted a little but other then that it is running fine. I will deliver the car anywhere in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Southern Tenn.
At this point, the car only needs is the drivers door opening mechanism and door latch, front bumper installed, (which I have), dome light, body molding, and the sound system finished. And I do have the driver's door panel. Here are the updated pictures:
