*** SOLD *** Here's it's final look when I let her go. Needed to make room for the Taco so the Sporty lost. Too bad, I think it was beginning to really look sick.
I bought my ride with 19,000 miles on it in August of 2004. She came with a nice list of toys including an auto tranny, 4x4, Pioneer CD Changer/FM 6 speaker system with a builtin subwoofer, a torquey lil' V6, and a bunch of creature comforts. I fell in love almost immediately. This is my second one, my first was a '94. The engine has good performance as is, but I felt it could do better.
First to be replaced is the air intake box. The whole engine breaths through a 3" hole. KKM's True-Rev Sport Induction kit looked perfect as it doesn't need a fancy chrome tube, it uses the stock intake hose which is wide and obstruction free. After reading some good feedback, I bought. The installation was a breeze - remove the factory box with filter and bolt up the filter mount to the existing air tunnel Bolt on the filter and the brace and you're done. KKM also has the cleaning kits for the filter as it never needs to be replaced.
9/2005: To cure the rear-end sag that seems to plague all Sporties, a set of Add-A-Leafs were installed along with 4 Rough Country Hydraulic 8000 series shock absorbers. The truck sits level now and even loaded won't sag. The ride of the shocks is impressive, stable and comfortable. The truck doesn't rock side to side now when cornering and the roll of the front end is minimal. Big A+++ to Rough Country for these shocks.
10/2005: A custom catback exhaust was built and installed. Off the cat converter a Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow muffler (part #9430522) with 2 outputs was mounted. Then a pair of 2 1/4" pipes exited out under the bumper on both sides. The shop routed the driver side pipe in front of the spare tire and then out the back. The brake line was relocated to accomodate the pipe. Pipes are capped off with a set of 4" Pace Monza BIG BORE Resonated Exhaust tips. The truck now has a nice low rumble to it and a serious growl under acceleration. Interior resonance noise is fairly loud between 2500-3000 RPM, still acceptable to me. It was well worth the investment.
12/2006: Merry Christmas to me! Needed new rubber so I decided to invest into some new wheels to give my ride a new profile. Had Michelin LTX M/S tires mounted on a set of Mickey Thompson Classic IIs. What a nice look.
