This was my first project.I Purchased it stock in 97 off a lemon lot.I just needed a vehicle to drive at that time.It had the straight six in it which was good until I put the wheels on it, then the potential of The Maverick jumped out at me.Next came disc brakes up front, bucket seats,a b&m slap stick, then the 302 which was a complete rebuild but a mild one.It get's alot of looks and is not something you see everyday.

I love this car but I almost sold it.It was listed on ebay for 5 days but my reserve was not reached.I tried selling it because I wasn't driving it and that's just wrong. It's now back on the road.

In the future I'm wanting to do a complete resto mod buildup with it.Not a drag car just a 12 second cruiser with full interior and running off pump gas.

It will take some doing to achieve that goal with a pushrod v-8 on pump gas,but thats the fun in it.

How about some color scheme suggestions? I do want to redo the vinyl top,the side molding could stay or go.

I am considering the current factory paint scheme or black top, black body, and keeping the side molding just changing it black as well.Let me know what you think,Thanks for looking!!

I love this car. I have always thought of building a Maverick because 1) they look good and 2) theres no weight to them. I know that a 302 came in some, and fits in all, but the one major thing that I am concerned about if I start a project like this is ignition timing. I know that sounds stupid but to put an cam, heads and intake on a 302, the distributor comes out. How do you put it all back together without screwing that up? I have only worked with old Ford inline sixes, and electronic ignition on newer cars.
