This is my 85 Monte SS. I got the engine put in July 04. This is an unbelievable engine. It has power to burn from idle to redline and gets good fuel mileage to boot. It was a very expensive project but it was worth it. I finally got to the track Sunday 10/15/06. All I did to get ready was to take the stuff out of the trunk and put some 275/50-15 BFG drag radials on. The car weighs 3780 with me. My car ran a best time of 12.73@109.3mph. I was happy because it faster than I expected it to run. It should be about 12.50's if I get my 60' time down. The engine and accessories were bought from Street + Performance. A new built-up 4L60-E transmission was also installed. The car went to my friends shop with no engine or trans and left less than 2 weeks later under it's own power. It was a long and late 2 weeks. The interior has been redone with custom upholtered seats and a new carpet The door panels have been updated with 88 SS panels f+r. The rollbar was installed a few years ago. The guages are stock with the exception of the tach which is a 5" Autometer monster tach and a 3 3/8 160mph speedometer custom fit into the stock location in the cluster. The graphics are all paint and were done freehand- no copying or vinyl- and took about 20 hrs. The Z06 emblems were put on for fun. The wheels are Centerline Matrix series- size is 17x 8 front + rear. Tire size is 245/45ZR17 front + 255/45ZR17 rear. Front suspension-Hotchkis tubular upper a-frames w/12" Camaro 1-LE brakes w/EBC pads and Caprice calipers and master cylinder. Rear suspension-Hotchkis tubular control arms w/stock rear brakes. The front shocks are Edelbrock IAS. Rears are QA 1 adjustable shocks. Springs are Eibach sportline springs. The stance is just right. The swaybars are Helwig 1 5/16" front and 1" rear bar. The rear of the car has been updated w/88 taillights and rear bumper. What a difference it made to the car! This burnout photo was taken at the Worcester Summernationals in 2002. That is one good show. Future mods include cleaning up the body, adding a cold air intake( added 7/06) and if I have the money a Magnacharger supercharger.

that is a sweet engine setup, I would love to do that to a monte. I might have to make an unscheduled trip to st. louis if that is the one you are bringing.
