chazzer's 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado

Paint Code "K" Ocean Mist Metallic.

Chrome wheels and halo vinyl roof. I was never a big fan of vinyl roofs but the halo style from 68 isn't too bad.

These old Toros are a blast to drive as they handle fantastic. Drum brakes at all four corners is the weak link. I have all the spindles, rotors, calipers, boosters etc. to convert to 69 floating disc brake caliper.

I need to get around to replacing the hood release handle (that some prior owner adapted to replace the original broken one). I found a good used one, which is unusal as most are broken and long gone.

Dual notch bumper is very rare for 68. I found this particular bumper in Detroit. It was on an abandoned Toro sitting in a condemned builidng since 1980. Had the Bumper rechromed and a complete Stainles Steel exhaust system made front to back. Elite Exhaust in Brantford On. did a fantastic job, even made the tranverse muffler out of stainless. Seriously the exhaust system they made is a work of art.

By the way my Dad's Ocean Mist 68 Toro (Sept 1967- June 1972) was bucket seats- NO console. I do have one set of four Toronado chrome wheels(from the blue totaled W-34 Toronado). I wouold like to get $650 for them

Question, does thet transmission code say OJ or OM?
Does the tranny shift smooth, or does it "snap" through the gears? It the interior Custom or Standard(basic - short armrest, switches on the door panel, only 3,957 for 1968)

5 stars on the 68 Toronado. The VERY first car I rode in, March of 1970, was a Ocean Mist color Toronado. Is the color code on the firewall, K or KK? Is the vinal roof one piece or three sections? Rear bumper: staight edge or notched? Do you get 18 miles to the gallon?
Are you every planning on acquiring factory chrome wheels for the Toro?
Are you a member of the Olds Club, Toronado Chapter, or Toronado Owners AssicatioN? Some member of the Toronado Owners Assication, are tring to docment every 1996-70 Toronado(vin numbers and firewall tags, engine and transmssion code, etc)

Looks like you've got yourself some very beautiful cars there, especially that 68 Toronado. I have one myself and am currently working on restoring it, although that takes a lot of time and money. I don't see either of those cars that much up here so keep 'em clean, keep 'em beautiful. Eye candy for those of us on the road!
