Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my ride.
You are looking at my 94 Cutlass Convertible sittin on 18's and held up by a fully custom air ride setup.
I bought the car in August of 2004 with 61,000 miles from a guy who bought it from an older couple in Florida. It was obviously bone stock. I started lookin for parts right away and quickly found out that no one makes a bag kit for this car. Since I couldn't find anything on these cars, I decided to fab the kit with the help of some talented friends in metal fabrication.
I went with strut bags in the front and had to cut the factory strut in 2 and weld on a custom bag bracket. Sounds easy enough, but trust me, it was a royal pain. The front was the easiest though. When it came time for the back, that was where we got stumped time after time. We tried to fit a strut bag over the rear strut, but there was not enough room to clear the tire and fender well of the car so that idea fell through. We ended up having to make custom trailing arms that would support the weight of the car and weld a bracket to the frame of the car. In the middle went a firestone 2500lb bag and that was that.
Now that it is bagged, we are scratching our heads on how to get it to lay out harder. We are pretty sure that this winter we will get another 2-3 inches.
Also in store for it this winter is a full custom paint job and a new interior to match. That will all be done for the 2006 show season.
To this day, it is the only Cutlass of this body style that I have seen bagged. I have been to car shows all over the east and midwest and not found one on air. While it is nice being the only one I know of, I hope someone else will follow because these are such unique cars.
