My Alpine CDA-9857 headunit and iPod hooked to it in the center console. Look what it told me when I turned it on, on the 4th of July

My sound system consists of a an Alpine CDA-9857 head unit with my iPod nano hooked up to it, stock infinity amplifer powering front and rear sets of components. I have two 10 inch Power Accoustik FUBR series subs (the biggest I could fit behind the seats) rated for 600 watts rms, and 1800 peak (doubt that), through dual 2ohm voice coils. They sound better than I thought they could, and they can't be beat for the price. They were probably the only good Power Accoustik subs I ever heard. They quit making them and replaced them with some crappy 4ohm model. They are powered by a JBL BP1200.1 amplifier mounted under the seat thats pushing 1200 watts rms at 2 ohms. It is backed by a Power Accoustik 3 farad capacitor. Its a pretty modest system, but it does sound really good. I'm not a big fan of neons, they are really only there as spacers to keep the subs from hitting the grilles which keep the subs from rubbing the seats and tearing themselves apart.

I swapped out the cloth seat material and reupholstered them with leather with a Katzkin kit. It was really easy and its so much nicer now.

I still need to recover the door panel inserts, but I have something special planned for those

A look at what I see when driving.

If your going to use carbon fiber use real stuff where ever you can.
I wanted to change the color that the gauges light up from green to blue. So I swapped in some white leds. I found out one day that the film for the gauge face was actually blue but the green color came from the dim incandescent bulbs that put out a yellow light. Some nice leds cleared all that up.
This is a picture of the green color of a stock cluster:

And this is what my dash looks like now.

I did everything... even the door lock and window switches

I decided to redo my headliner with a suede like material. The factory color was kind of a tan and it didn't match very well with my dark gray and black interior.

It took a little while because the passenger side visor gave me some trouble because it has the vanity mirror, and i wanted to keep that, but after a bunch of painting, gluing, and cussing, it got done. It matches the rest of the interior perfect.

Later on I added a new overhead console with the mini computer and the homelink programmable remote in it. It tells direction, outside temperature, average fuel economy, instantaneous fuel economy, distance to empty, distance since last reset, and run time since last reset.

I guess this is kind of an interior thing. Its inside my bed anyway. When I got my truck over 3 years ago, the previous owner had it sprayed with Rhino Linings. By the time I got it, it was completely faded and looked pretty crappy. I now have the tonneau cover on it but it was too late. So I found some bedliner restorer and decided to give it a shot.

Not bad for $20 and an afternoon of work. I know it looks like it would be slick like armor-all or something, but its not.

For a little update on this. It has been about a year and it still looks like that.

I also have a viper key that i cut for it. Not really sure why. Got it cheap on ebay. They typically go for like $20-25 plus shipping and I think I got it for $10. I guess its kind of a ricer thing to do, but to me its just a cool key and a reminder to keep working hard in school, maybe shoot for that masters, and maybe I can actually have something like a viper one day.

Oh my goodness John I am so sorry. I just today decided to update my Cardomain for the first time in months and thought I would say hello to you and I am horrified at what I find! That is so terrible that that happened. I don't even know what to say. My heart hurts, it really does. This honestly is the nicest Dakota I have ever seen. I always told people about it and how sharp it looked. I have always loved it. Take care my friend.
