The left picture shows the stock car. The picture on the right shows the headlight modifications. The headlights were taken out, put in an oven (yes, an oven!) for about 20 minutes on 200 degrees. This allows the plastic to heat up a bit. They were then taken apart...the clear cover removed from the rest of the headlight. This let us take everything out, and paint the interior of the housing black. We then put the headlights together, and resealed with an extra layer of silicone.
The rear hatch cover will be home to 2 sets of Polk Audio 5 1/4" coaxial speakers. Here Kevin is cutting the frame for the base, and the rings are routed out. Later, fleece will be stretched over the rings, and fiberglassed in place.
The side view mirrors were removed...no need to see. We decided to install a Vivo Electronics 5.6" monitor in each mirror. These will be connected to rear cameras in the bumper...so, we can see what is behind the car via the camera!! Something a bit different... The second picture is me making an interior mold of the shape, so I have the exact fit for the mirrored plexiglass.
