And this is the beast that currently resides in my Bird. Its a 180K mile, 3.8L with CFI. While there wasnt much I could do for power, I did what I could to make it look good. The K&N is off of an 88 Camaro with TBI, since it was too tall for the air cleaner to seal, I used the old muscle car trick of flipping the lid. I polished the underside, plugged the holes that were for the heater riser and I wire wheeled and clearcoated the air cleaner base.
I also did the same for the valve covers. I took them off, and wire wheeled all of the paint off. Once the paint was gone, I made all of the wheel marks go in one direction so that they would look like brushed stainless or aluminum, and clearcoated them.
The K&N didnt do jack in the name of power, but it made the anemic 3.8L sound a little bit like it was going somewhere.
