This is my 1955 Studebaker Commander Coupe on the Bonneville salt flats in 1998 (just watching)

Since then, have done quite a few things to it. First off, removed the original powertrain from it and replaced it with a Ford 351 Windsor engine (from a 1977 Lincoln Versailles), T5 5 speed transmission (1985 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe), original driveshaft (original, just got it resized), and a Ford 9" rear axle (also from a 1977 Lincoln Versailles). Front suspension is stuff that would bolt into an S10, has disc brakes all around.
The car is in good running order, but not complete. Main thing that is yet to be done is the interior, as you can see...

I have a new steering wheel in there as well as some decent bucket seats. I am currently working on a new dash for it, using one from a 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk, although the engine-turned panels were a bit wrinkled and beat up, so I decided to go ahead and make my own using a Bridgeport milling machine and an abrasive rubber bit, I think the result looks pretty good. Just need to finish up the dash with some black vinyl and wire it in and I should be set

Also got some nice aluminum salt flat discs from Mooneyes to put over the new wheels that are on it, I love the look.

I'm really pleased how it looks so far, just have a bit to go in the interior, then a new paint job would be nice. I'd also like to eventually build up the engine a bit (perhaps supercharge it, those Lysholm superchargers are just awesome). Sadly, I'm away at school in Michigan, and the Stude is back home in Arizona, so I will probably have to wait awhile to do much anything on it. Hope you liked it.
And now for a couple more pictures!
