JacocksAuto's 1989 Ford Crown Victoria

On October 28, 2005, my engine started knocking. I began doing research for a GT-40P based, speed density operated, High Output conversion. I'd already gathered all the parts for a T5 (Mustang 5spd) conversion and this pushed me into doing the HO conversion at the same time. You may say, "A five speed in a Crown Victoria? That had to be difficult!" I'm here to tell you that's the easy part. All this researching led to the following Chronicle of my own:
My Chronicle on GMN
You can follow the build-up there. If you read through the still-growing 60 pages and almost 1,200 posts, be sure to take note of my lack of patience and limited attention span. Those two things are a bad combination for someone doing two intricate conversions on a seventeen year old car with lots of original equipment.
The most recent addition has been a Walbro 255lph fuel pump. It makes a HUGE difference in the power band. Before, I was losing all power at around 5,000 RPMs but but now I can it up to 6,000 (highest I've gone so far) without even realizing it. It's not quite as strong as it was before the exhaust leaks were repaired (oddly enough), but it'll still throw you for a curve in a big way.
With FRPP shorty headers, 2.5" pipes, H crossover, and worn out Flowmaster Delta 40s you can certainly hear it coming. I like the sound, but I do plan to take some measures in the future to get it quieter. A lot quieter.
It has a blown lifter, but I have extras available. I just don't feel like tearing that far into the motor just to do it again when I find the cam I want, so it'll stay this way until I do get the cam (most likely a TFS Stage 1), whenever that is.

Of all the vehicles displayed on Cardomain, this is definitely one of the projects I respect the most. I wish you the best of luck. I cant wait to see this thing done. Shift handle? Id go with a classic T-Handle. Keep up the awesome work.

Good updates. Have you considered adding a page that chronicles the T-5 swap or are you just counting on people going to see it on Fordforums?

Also, is the 3.73 you're going to put in a limited slip or open?

Your '89 sure looks nice and I'm grateful to you for the advice you've given me on fordforums (I go by Nathan in MN over there). Your car basically symbolizes all the stuff I'd like to do on my car.

Good luck with whatever you do to it in the future.

Nathan
