This is 'Disturbed', my '97 2.5l V6 Mazda MX6... hope you enjoy my page. I bought the car in 2005 and it's seen a few changes while in my hands. The next few pages will describe my car in a little more detail. I update regulary, usually after a modification. Included are some tech articles that'll help you do it yourself.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels are STR SF057 in 17". 7.5j wide with a 42 offset.
I originally wrapped them in Falken ZE512 205/40R17. Fantastic tyres in my opinion even if the life was somewhat shorter than expected.

Gone are the Falkens though and I'm trying something else. I was happy with Yokohama's A509 when i had the Pug. So, this time I've changed from the Falken ZE512 and I've fitted a set of Yokohama A539 in a 215/40WR17 size. Not quite as good as the Falkens in the wet but about on par in the dry.

Suspension

Getting hold of a sport suspension kit for the MX was proving to be tiring. Speed Freaks is the distributor for the KoeniC systems and there are headaches involved with getting one for an imported car. I contacted the factory directly and managed to twist their arm into letting me get one of their export kits.

The guys at the KoeniC branch in Springs sorted me out with the fitment and alignment of the suspension. They battled to get the lower shock bolt on the rear left loose. Somebody, somewhere didnt know their own strength or used an airgun to fasten the mofo. Upon inspection, they found that the front right shock was on its way out. That will be replaced soon though.

Doing the alignment and a pic of the motor. I've only had time to do the induction. Omicron Racing with a PPR filter, more on page two.

The KoeniC kit takes about 2 weeks to settle, so its not going to settle much more than what it has. Ride height has dropped by a fair amount. Silly me, I didnt measure the ride height before fitting the kit. At the moment these are the measurements.

Front: 620mm
Rear: 645mm

(Measured from the ground to the wheel arch, through the centre of the wheel.)

The ride is somewhat firmer but not uncomfortable in the least bit. This is pretty surprising as I am on 40 profile tyres. Cornering has surprised me. I have this one on ramp that I take on a daily basis where my exit speed is usually in the region of 110 km/h (69mph). After sorting the suspension (and letting it settle a touch) I exited the same turn at 140 km/h (88mph) and still had plenty grip in reserve.

The body roll has decreased dramatically. I've fitted a front strut brace. An aluminum one from Yatama.

Random Photos

New and old. My previous MX on the right (now my Dad's one). This is after the kit has been fitted. The coils have settled in since and the car is a fair amount lower than in this photo.

You MX6 is looking good.
I miss my car. Was hoping to buy another MX6 here in NZ but they so common here and go for around $2000 to $5000 depending on whats been done. Not may 2.5 V6's around tho and they all in Automatic, bummer. Go my roving eye on a R32 Skyline. Hopefully I will have one in my driveway soon. Keep up the good work on your MX6
If you need any spares or parts let me know. I saw Toyota Supre replica tail lights for a MX6 a few months ago for about $400.00. Damn they are nice. Let me know if you intrested. Same goes for all the MX6 boys in SA. If you looking for parts for a MX6 I can get it here in New Zealand. Just not too sure of the shipping costs tho.

Nice 97!!!..i was in Johberg to check out some new wings for my MX...planning to also drop it,but i sometimes use some bad roads....they are actually everwhere anyway!!...and need the ground clearance...what does it cost to drop it..iwant a more like Too fast too Furious look for my MX...don`t want a too high wing for the back though...some gigantic ones i saw`re in Joburg on Saturday...we went to cars in the park and used my wife`s Audi,so i could see what the MX will look like with one of those carbon fibre wings....which one do you suggest?...i want to get a bootlid from the scrapyard and seal the holes on that and drill new ones for the higher wing..gonna keep my bootlid....apparently the previous owner fitted a chip, but i dunno....pulls better than my sister`s MX,but not what i wanted....so i`ll prolly need another chip..car mag warns about the fitting of chips, unless the guy knows what he`s doing....i saw your mx`s chop in Speed an Sound mag..some nice MX`s...i prefer the purple one ....I`d appreciate any suggestions from you.....
Cheers.
Anton

Hiya Spyke. Thanks for the compliment on my site. I work in Angola for 3 months at a time so I got plenty of time to work on my site, not much else to do here anyway. Still looking for the perfect background to to the site justice but so far no luck. Waiting for the missus to send me some pics of the mags cos I had her send them in for a polish so Im dying to see how that came out. If it look great then Im gonna uplaod them as well. Later

Hi.
I know of someone going to the USA on 19 May 2006 to order spares, accesorries, body kits etc and is is prepared to order parts for Mazda MX6 and bring back to SA if there is enough intrest. The more people intrested the lower the costs will be. If you are intrested please let me know and I can send you a list of web sites where you can have a look at whats avaliable for MX6. Alternatively email me if you already know what you are looking for.
Regards
Adrian
