After a long wait, i finnaly got a spare set of front door panels and im starting to fibreglass pods onto them

Istarted by sadning and using the angle grinder to roughen up the flastic so the first layer of glass will get good adhesion. MDF was used to support the AERPRO 6 & 1/2 inch speaker rings.

These pictures show the glass drying and the two pods in construction. I used 4 MDF ribs to help give the pod shape. The carpet was removed from the door card and retrimed in black vinyl

Hot gule was used to streatch and stick speaker grill cloth over the ribs to give the pod some shape

The speaker grill cloth was then given a coat of resin and allowed to dry overnight. The next day the excess cloth was trimmed with a sharp knife

After the cloth was cut back fibreglass matting was applied along with resin and allowed to cure

After everything was dry, i used the angle grinder to cut back any excess glass from the plastic panel and then to sand down some of the high points

Here are the pics of applying bodyfiller and sanding

A coat of primer was applied to see imperfeactions, and then a single pack putty was applied over the seam where the plastic and fibreglass meet to give a nice finish

After some spray putty and some spot filling the entire thing was snaded and primed. The plastic was primed black using plastic adhesion primer. Small holes were then filled with the pink one part putty

If I can afford it I would like to add a audio system. Change the exhaust and get a cold air intake. Could you notice a difference in power? Did you loose gas milage?
