1991 Daihatsu Rocky

Old Skool, Retro, Stock Out of the Box Look

Recently, Si Boeloek has gone through a major modification that change both the appearance and perfomance. Please check it out...

After I sold Si Gadjah, my beloved 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, I need car that also can manage the need of daily transportation and week end off road wheeling. And then, my daily driving 1991 Daihatsu Rocky would be the choosen one, and apparently she also have to suffer a major rebuilt.

The main idea of rebuilding this car is how to make it looks as stock as possible without loosing the capability to go wheeling, both on the road or on the light to mild off road, even the heavy off road course. No need a set of giant tires, no need a sophisticated suspension setup, no need a mighty horsepower engine, just as stock as possible with safety equipment upgrade. Off course, we'd still have all the fun.

I'm only putting a mild 2" body lift to my Rocky, so that a set of 7.50x16 mud tire can freely move inside the fender.

The engine is rebuilt stock DL-62 Engine, the suspension setup is rebuilt stock IFS and 5 link coil spring rear suspension but the fatique OEM rear spring already replaced by SBM springs.

The front grill is taken from 1985 Daihatsu Rocky to emphasize the "Retro Look", beside that, it's cool to have a pair of round head light in front of our fourby, right?

The wide overfenders are also stripped off to boost the "Retro Look", the front and rear bumper also came from the older Rocky. To compensate the lack of overfenders, a big offset 40 years old 4.5x16 steel wheels donated from Jeep CJ-2A replace the 8x15 alloy wheels from the last city slicker setup. A set of 7.50x16 Simex M\P Trekker Mud tire is stuffed to the steel wheels for the off pavement setup while a set of 5.5x15 Suzuki Vitara steel wheels stuffed with 31x10.5x15 Bridgestone Dueler A/T is prepared for the daily on road use.

On page two 2 I displayed custom interior parts which I recently added to Si Boeloek.
