(1965 Comet Cyclone is the first American production car, other than the Corvette, to offer a fiberglass body part as an option. Although quite rare, a fiberglass hood was available with 2 scoops recessed into the hood, about a foot back from the leading edge. between 200 and 300 of these special hoods were made in 1965. "It was a prototype hood that became a regular production item on the 1966 Comet GT.")
