The Donor vehical for this car was a 1991 chevrolet s-10 2.8 rwd

I found this truck on autotrader in some hillbilly used car lot deep in the apalachian mountains of pennsylvania. The truck was destined for the scrap heap due to severe body rust. However it ran very smooth and the compression checked out fine so i snatched it for a quite reasonable $750.

It sat in my driveway for about 2 months while i was in New Jersey working. Once i came home it was soon time to tear away the useless body and give the rest a second life.

I enlisted the help of my freind and fellow engineer "Jalics" with whom i do most of my mad scientistry with.

since much of the bolts were rusted shut and since i had to get rid of the body anyway, I descided that it would be much easier to remove truck from around the engine than remove the engine from the truck.

This was the point where i started taking a whole bunch of pictures just in case i needed to reinstall the entirity of the fuel injection system.

Luckily the carbs would end up working perfectly and better than i had anticipated so the fuel injection went straight to the scrap yard

The truck becomes a convertible.

In hindsight i was rather sad to see the truck go because it gave me an appreciation for the simplistic philosphy of general motors design. Even thought i am a die hard mercedes benz faithful, I find that General motors deserve a bit more credit than they have been getting recently. Im not saying that they are in any way superior but they are very good at what they are originaly built for. being simple expendable kick around utility vehicals.

However all that aside i proceeded to sadistically smash in the windsheild like the fivr year old child that i am.

The windshield was in bad shape even before we started taking it apart plus it didnt want to come off in one piece due to a big crack that was going down the middle. so i descided try some experimentation with what a windshield can protect me from.
first we tried a hammer. barely a change at all. then after trying a couple sizes of hammers i tried an old tired volkswagen head that was beyond repair. it faired better but still didnt go through. finally jalics took a tractor mounted tiller spike to it that did the trick.

after removeing the gas tank, there was still a substantial amount of gasoline in the tank. However since I am a Diesel man i had no use for this useless inefficient fuel. Plus it was probably old and water laden. Jalics disagreed and descided to use it in his sentra which just got back from its epic trip up the alcan to juneau from ohio.

Due To Bad planning!!! and some miscommunication on the part of the dealer i bought it from in PA i had to go to the BMV to get an out of state inspection performed on the truck. Luckily all they technically needed from me was an odometer reading and a VIN number to qualify as a motor vehical. Luckily at the point i found this out i still had those parts on the chassis of the poor old s-10

At this point i came to the conclusion that the truck was not going to be able to stay in my house. Andy luckily had his parents house all to himself for the better part of a year. Its location was in a well isolated area farther into the country and less populated. this would be very beneficial in my endevour of construction. So after the BMV i took the truck and sentra straight there after the truck got its temp tags.

As we progressed the truck started to shrink. The body quickly melted away with the help of a couple hands and some sawsall blades.

the fact of the matter that we had to deal with now is that it had to be removed. luckily i found a scrap yard that took old cars and payed $105 a ton for scrap. So we set at the truck.

With a couple gallons of oxy acetelyn, a sawsall, and an angle grinder. we had that truck to its knees in a matter of 5 days. Luckily we didnt suffer third degree burns or burn the house down.

The Truck started to shed critical parts with the help of our ingenious engine hoist.

the engine was quite the pain to remove, so soon afterwards we promptly proceeded to show that engine who was boss.

That's a nice looking Locost! What did she cost you to build, not including the donor?

hey it's scott i have the lotus 7 you messaged me about,
i didn't really jig it i just kept checking it for squareness.
i'm keeping it pretty close to the book for suspension i haven't started on it yet. the frame is complete other than the front. the rear susp is complete i made delrin bushings for at the controll arms. i used a rear axle from a volvo 760i/c turbo with disc brakes. it is 59" wide so you need to purchase the 11" rear fenders.
my email is Audiouse@hotmail.com if you have any further questions.
