Buildup of the 179HP!
I purchased this motor complete from the wreckers for $150! Straight out of an EH too! At the time it was covered in rust and even had old engine oil in it still too!
I thought about just a standard rebuild, but in standard form, the buggered 202 would have still had more power, so i went about PERFORMANCE rebuilding it!
Going by the condition of the pistons, i thought i'd have the bores inspected for wear by a pro, and only bore it if i had to... they were ok, had a small lip on the tops of the bores, but still honable and re-usable!

To err on the safe side, i had it bored to 186 standard bore (it was bored to the new pistons), which would eliminate any potential chance of failure! While i was at it, i purchased a set of Starfire rods, had the block acid dipped, the crank had been linished and dipped, then ground to suit the new ACL bearings, new welsh plugs were installed, and the flywheel now looks anorexic in comparison to what it used to look like!! The cam is an XU-1 cam!
The final list of internals is as follows:
179HP - 186 bore
Precision Hypatec flat top pistons
Starfire rods with ARP Rod bolts
ACL bearings throughout
Linished and ground steel crankshaft
Lightened flywheel
Balanced
JP High Volume oil pump
JP High Performance timing gears (not straight cuts)
Aftermarket standard electronic distributor (re-curved)
Head work (Shaved, ported, o/size valves, double HP springs, ULP valve seats, grub screwed rocker studs, Y/T roller rockers)
XU-1 Bathurst grind camshaft (high lift with LOOOONG duration)
High flow mechanical fuel pump
Rebuilt 350Holley on polished CAIN manifold
Pacemaker 1 3/4" primaries into straight through 2 1/4 mercury system with s/steel tip.

2 shots of the completed motor!
Its painted in Engine enamel Aluminium, has (in these photos anyway) the chrome rocker cover, the chrome pushrod covers and chrome oil pump cover! The manifold is a polished CAIN 2barrel manifold and the 350 Holley is attached!
