Hello All,
Just a little background information for those that don't know what Saleen does to a car. They purchase a car from Ford, historically this has been a Mustang, and then they work their magic to it. When they finish, they serialize the cars. The past couple of years, Saleen has included the Focus as one of their offerings - they still upgrade the Mustangs, too. My car is #83 of their production run for the 2005 Focus model. I haven't been able to track down the total number, but, I know they made at least 97 of them - the dealer that I bought my car from had the #83 and the #97 cars.
[UPDATED 02/16/2006]
I've learned that Saleen produced 200 Focus conversions for their Model year 2005; 125 were S121's and 75 were N2O's. All of them were numbered sequentially. My vehicle is #83 of 200.
Saleen offered a modified Focus in 2004 called the N2O which had a Nitrous system. Most sales of the N2O never activated the nitrous kit, so, for 2005 Saleen offered the S121 and the N2O. The difference being that the S121 didn't recieve a hood scoop (no idea if it's functional on the N2O) and didn't receive the basic Nitrous hookup.
[UPDATED 12/11/2006]
News from the power adder front...Focus Sport is offering turbo solution for the '05+ Duratec powerplants. A stage 1 and a stage 2 kit. The stage 1 kit offers 8PSI boost, and the stage 2 kit offers 11PSI. Additional details can be found here:
www.FocusSport.com Turbo Kit page
They claim at least 70% increase in horsepower with their kit - and I assume this is with the stage 2 kit (intercooler). So, this would mean that for a "measily" $4 grand (installation extra) you take the 135HP to about 235HP.
Still, begs the question on what they do to beef up the Duratec internals to handle 11PSI of boost. I've read that the Duratec 2.0L are fragile in that they can't handle much more than about 7PSI before breaking something inside. Makes you (at least me!) go Hmmm...
Exterior
Saleen S121 #83 serialized front bumper.
The Saleen stripe packge is new for 2005. The 2004 N2O offered a more "tribal" style graphic.
The rear showing the bi-plane wing, rear bumper cover, and Magnaflow "dual" exhaust (it's a functional single, with a second tip for show).
"Saleen wheels" are actually TSW Revo's, dressed up with Saleen valve stem caps, Saleen center caps, and silver snap pins in place of the TSW red ones. The Saleen tire package was Pirelli PZero Nero 215/40ZR17 91Y front, and PZero Nero 215/45ZR17 91Y rears. This is the detail of the asymetric tread pattern on the front.
Just a shot of the driver door showing the manufacturer information plates. Saleen places their own plate as further indication of "genuine" Saleen creation. Also, the Saleen tire package information plate.
