This is my tutorial on how to sound deaden a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. This truck is my daily driver and will serve as a demo car for Second Skin noise, heat and vibration control products.

secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaThis is the door as it comes from the factory
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse a small flat head screw driver to pop out these 2 little caps. Be careful not to use to much force and scratch the upholstery.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaThis is a pic of the door with both caps removed
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse a large Philips head screw driver to unscrew 2 large bolts that hold the door in place.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse the small flat head screw driver to pop out the control panel. Use slightly more force than you think you may need.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaA pic of the panel removed. Notice the wires are still attached.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse the flat head on the back of the white wire clip to release the locking plug that secures each side to one another, then pull apart.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota Tacoma Use a small Philips screw driver or drill bit to undo the small screw located in the door handle.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaTo get the plastic door handle and shield off, put the shield towards the front of the truck, as my finger is pointing. This will take some force.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaOnce you slide the shield it will pop out of place like you see in the pic.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaA clip remover is the best tool to use here, but I did not have one. I used the small screw driver to pry the plastic door shell away from the metal door frame. the best place to put the small screw driver is right inside of the clip. The closer you can get to the clip, the less damage you will do. There are 9 clips that must be undone.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaOnce everything has been undone the door will come off by lifting straight up on the handle. This might need to be jiggled a little bit. Do not pull to hard as there is a wire connected to the tweeter that must be released.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse the small flat screw driver to undo the white electric plug.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaUse a small Philips head screw driver or drill bit to release the speaker baffle. Either the speaker or the entire baffle can be removed depending on what you are doing. I removed the entire baffle here.
secondskinrep's 2004 Toyota TacomaThis is the moisture barrier that protects the doors working mechanisms and electronics from water. It can be removed and set aside.

Hey man... you REALLY look like you know what you're doing! I was wondering if you could give me some help/ideas. I've got a 98 tacoma and I'm trying to install the Elemental designs edi 6500s, but they are to deep. They hit the window track. If I expand outwards with MDF spacers, I will run into the door panel. Did you have to do door panel mods? How did you solve this dilemma? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ddilulo_06@yahoo.com Thanks, Dusty
