This may not be the silver MC, but all the same work was done underneath. 2" lowering spindles up front with stiffer springs for better cornering. All new bushings in the control arms and sway bar. New ball joints and tie rod ends along with gear box, pump, & center link. Complete brake job front & rear. Coil springs in back and 4 new shocks. All this took a couple of weekends, but a lot of cleaning was done at the same time. This car drives so much better now it's hard to believe it's the same car.
Man, all this work and the Monte Carlo only goes out on nice days. I'm just starting to go through an engine that I've already built a few times. It's been in 2 Montes already plus a 79 1 Ton Chevy 4WD. It almost ended up in an S-10, but now it's being rebuilt hopefully for the last time and going into my 85 SS.
Enough of the history, now for the plans. I'm still debating on cam, I want BIG but streetable, probably go with .475 lift or so. Keeping all emissions, using Edelbrock TES Ti-Tech coated headers, got some Billet Vavle Covers for Christmas, roller rockers. and the list goes on. I will continue to update as I go through the process.
My intentions on this build were originally for a budget build, but that went out the window. Still gonna keep it reasonable, though. And to keep it looking original. Everything needs to be done neatly and cleanly, like it belongs that way. The only parts to stick out will be the headers and valve covers. Now to get to work and "Get 'er done."
