When I was about 6, I clearly remember the 70-73 Camaro being the first bodystyle to catch my eye. My dad's good friend owned a '73. I remember riding in the backseat thinking, man I want one of these. When I turned 16, my parents almost bought me one. My dad asked his friend to sell his '73 but no deal (he still owns it today). I ended up with a '65 Mustang with a straight 6(no complaints).
Fast forward to 2004 and many cars later (both Fords & Chevys), I spotted my Camaro on eBaymotors, with less than 12 hours left in the auction. I was the high bidder.
I am now the third owner of this 1970 Camaro Super Sport/Rally Sport. Although the car was purchased in roadworthy condition, I will be be doing some restoring while keeping it drivable.
CURRENT STATE

WHAT I HAVE DONE
The original numbers matching engine compartment after a day of scrubbing, spraying and detailing.
Adding a 3 piece spoiler: I used a Duplicolor spray can with a close enough color match. This will do until I get a full repaint some day.
I decided to start at the top and work down. Removal of the vinyl top reveals the original Hugger Orange paint & rust.
Front & rear glass were removed. I coated the entire roof with POR-15 so rust wont have a chance to return.

The vinyl top, headliner and front & rear glass have all been replaced.

Headliner removal & replacement.
Here is the re-covered driver seat and rear package tray with late 70's speaker grilles (for factory appearance).
The original Hugger Orange paint is visible when the door panel was removed.
Here is a 4 inch front speaker. I added a carpet strip at the bottom edge of the door panel because this portion of the panel had water damage (ripped & curled up).
Reflective bubblewrap placed under the carpetting will help reduce the exterior heat & road noise.

Wetsanding & taillight replacement
Subframe to body bushing replacement: old and new

Future project: replacing the stock rear drum brakes with rear disc brakes from an '81 Trans Am.
I will update as I work on the Camaro so please visit every few months. Comments and advice are welcomed & appreciated.
