FINALLY DONE! 1967 BUICK SKYLARK SPORT COUPE HARDTOP
This is my father's 1967 Buick Skylark coupe. It is Aquamerine metallic with a black vynl top and deep tourquise interior. Powered by the optional 340-4 V-8 and dual exhaust. A/C, power windows and locks, tilt wheel, speed alert, and road wheels. It has not been on the road since 1999 due to a lacuer paint problem and not enough time to get it done until this summer (2007). I live in Pittsburgh, PA Monroeville area so if you are around in the summers are car cruises, look for her there. If its a younger guy driving...its me. Thing handles great, sounds good, and is tight all around. Just a great car to drive and enjoy. Growing up with this Skylark got me into cars and now I am finally working on my own so check it out in 'my garage'.
The car has some hidden secrets like SS front swap bar, GS springs over stiffened, Z-28 steering box gear, might put 3.42 gears (don't mark my words on the ratio but its around there), elec. ignition you will never find!...I think thats it but it appears stock and is for the most part oh and the Turbo 400 3-speed. The interior is all original except for the carpet and we repaired the steering wheel once, paint is base clear urethane and my father put the pin strips on the base coat then cleared over them so you cannot feel it and it will not fall off. Vinyl roof is 10-12 years old so its in great shape.
,
This is the car a while ago this past summer. It has been like this for a while.
Here is the engine bay which has been restored for years, but we touched a few things up.
Here is my dad buffing the Buick down. Almost there.
Here is the car almost complete. Just a little more buffing to do and some touchup on the front before we put the pieces back together.
Rear bumper ready to go on
Gas tank was dropped and cleaned out. Luckily no major problems and no rust on top! We did it all ourselves from cleaning to painting it again and putting some undercoating on the floor of the truck so she don't rub and rust later.
Just after some buffing and wet sanding to get her smooth
