Welcome to the SVT-W page!
I sold this little thing back in '07
I custom built this car with some SVT Focus upgrades which you can read all about at the bottom of the page...........
But here is the good stuff first, pictures!
My favorite upgrade is the Euro issue ST170 headlamps which are not only more stylish, but provide better illumination as well. They also have a halo-like daytime low-illumination mode.
Take a look around the interior......I've upgraded to a Ford Racing STS, w/custom leather boot, Focus RS shift knob, Focus SVT brake lever/aluminum pedal set.
Back in '04, I owned this '04 SVT Focus w/ Euro package which had every option avail. on Focus.
Alas, it was a ZX3, so when my son was born I sold it to grow into something larger. Unfortunately, the ZX5 despite having two rear doors, is no larger than a ZX3 so that was no better.
It was clear to me that the wagon was the platform I needed to have.
The Focus was a class-leading vehicle in stock formation, years ahead back in '00 with it's advanced chassis design that most automakes are just now on par with in '06! The SVT Focus with it's many upgrades, but especially it's suspension, is perhaps one of the most enjoyable cars to drive. Just read reviews in car magazine comparos, and the SVT was almost always on top. Unfortunately, Ford did not put the SVT options into a wagon option, unlike the smarter European branch, ST (or Cosworth) who did (badged an ST170)
So my idea was planted, and this is what I started with.... found an '03 ZTW w/VERY hard to find 5spd, Zetec, leather, moonroof, Audiophile pkg, & 100K mile Ford backed warranty through'08:
I knew right away that first I needed to stiffen the ride, so I put on brand new 17" SVTF Euro wheels for it, wearing some nice Kumho Ecsta rubber. Then I upgraded the front to SVT suspension (dampers, springs, bumps & strut mounts). The car now measures about 5/8" lower than stock (in front).
In the back I installed Sachs shocks (who makes the Euro issue ST170 dampers), with everything else still in stock formation out back. This combo matches well because the stock wagon springs are considerably stiffer than a Focus sedan for more cargo capacity. This wagon now handles almost SVT-like and is actually fun to drive with a bit of a good looks to boot!
So what happened in the end.............I bought another SVTF :)
