Right now I drive a pretty much stock B5 1.8T Passat. Basic exterior changes, I replaced the stock side markers with crystal clear ones, and I just installed new Philips Vision Plus bulbs. Whiter and brighter than stock, if you can't decide on what bulbs to buy, I reccomend these ones.
System as of today is a Nakamichi CD-400 hu, Alpine SPX-177A 6.5 comps, run by a linear power 2.2HV, Morel Integra 6.5 coaxils in the rear doors, and soon a Resonent Engineering RE12 run by a Rockford Fosgate 160a2 2 channel amp. Yea I know, its a cheap amp but hey, the sub only needs 150 watts to wang, and this is the perfect ammount of power.
