Welcome to my site. On 9/20/05 I bought the last '05 Civic LX Special Edition Coupe in Illinois. The Special Edition throws in a wing and a leather wrapped stearing wheel, along with the alloys and 6 speaker 6 disc in-dash sound system. I bought my Honda because it is ECONOMICAL. I guess that puts me in the minority, especially on this site ;) It is silver with a black interior. Pics on the following pages.

I am heading to Tweeter to price out a JL Audio 500/1 SLASH amp and 2 x JL Audio 10" 10W3V3's in a PowerWedge box. If I can get it for under a grand installed, I'm probably pulling the trigger.

Only mods thus far is my Viper Security System. Mods to come include JL Audio subs and amp, StreetGlow blue lighting, and Altezza tail lights.

Enjoy the pics on the following pages. Sorry that my camera is crappy.

Hey, thanks for looking at my car. As far as the system goes my sub basically rapes the 6x9's in the rear by forcing them up and down when it hits. They still sound all right because any distortion that is caused by the sub beating them is overshadowed by the immense bass. LOL The mid and high levels still are as clear as the stock speakers can be (I believe they are pioneer), if it was noticeably bad I would fix it somehow. The fronts more than make up for any loss of the rears though due to the tweeters and they sound great at high levels. Ironically it is better with the sub because it causes you not to hear the distortion that the stock speakers get when up around 35-40 on the head unit. As for the subs, it depends on what you listen to. 2 10" subs sound good for hard rock and stuff that need quick response while 12s are more of an all around type of subs. I love the way 2 12" JL subs sound in a nice sealed box, and would get them because they wont cost much more and the extra head room for output is very much worth it. My 15 isn't very practical in a civic due to its size (have to roll all the windows down if I turn it up in fear of breaking my rear window, it will flex a good 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in the middle), but I don't use my trunk much at all and love my bass. The 15 actually will pound HARD on rock songs as well as rap, but the rock will make you feel sick to your stomach and your hearing WILL be muffled - not a good thing -. With the amp, go for a 500/1 before the e1400d. The 500/1 has a more level wattage output (500w rms between like 11v-15 or so, the e1400d depends on supply voltage amount) and has much wider frequency response than the e does, not to mention all of the extra tuning aids on the 500/1 that are not on the e. wow, this is getting long, I am going to try to cut it short. Wiring, I would run 4 awg (gauge) at least (500 accepts 4 awg inputs) 8 would waste your money and have a higher voltage loss over the distance to the trunk. Remember that wire and connections are one of the most important things to ensure a good sound. For smaller subs like 10s or 12s sealed boxes will most likely be best (vented will give you a higher spl or a “louder” sound but cut down on response and tightness of the bass a little). The subs will cost around 500, a JL box isn’t that much better than a cheaper box that are closer to 100 bucks, amp 550 unless you have a hook up like me or if you buy it off e-bay (but beware, buy from reputable store) for about 350 new. Rockford fosgate or w/e wiring kit off ebay for like 50 bucks new. That’s like 1,000 there not including install or a high level converter to supply the signal to the amp. I would say don’t cheap out, wait a little while longer and get the good stuff for like 1,150 or 1,200 installed and feel damn good knowing you have one of the better systems in your town (***turn it down before you pull into ANY parking lot, you don’t want it stolen.***). Lastly, tail lights--- just have them smoked. Windows--- tinted. Car --- lowered just a little (the correct way). The civic is an awesome daily driver and yes it would cost a lot to make it fast (that’s what my 240sx is for), but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a ton of fun to rip around town in. I’m glad that I could write the longest message on cardomain to you and I hope I answered all of your questions, if you have any more feel free to ask me. Check back on my 240sx page, I am doing a ton of stuff to it!!!

I've got the same exact Civic only the EX SE. How much of an effect does the K&N ram air intake make on fuel economy? And how does that effect the vehicle's warranty? I opted for the 100k mile warranty, which I think is kinda a waste with a civic cause they last forever if you take care of them. But I dont want to do anything to void the warranty.
