Wow - It's been awhile since I've done anything to the car.

Turns out the engine in the car has low oil pressure issues. Probably main bearing related. I have the replacement crank and oil pump to put in it now. I also picked up a replacement engine/transmission/front suspension in June. It came with all the accessories. MadMonkey from the DFW Miata board needed a replacement compressor so he got the one from this engine. Once summer is over and it cools down I'll swap the engine/trans and fix the mains issue.

7/30/06 - Titus from the DFW Miata board came over and we ripped out the AC system and the idler pulley from the car. He needed the condenser to repair his system and I needed the extra weight removed from the car.

channelmaniac's 1990 Mazda MiataThe hardlines were pretty easy to remove once they were disconnected from the brackets and from the screw mounts that hold them in. Don't forget to unplug the pressure sensor from the wiring harness!

channelmaniac's 1990 Mazda MiataOnce the compressor was removed (lifting, twisting, and finally wedging it out - also unplug the wire from the electrical harness!) the mounting bracket and the idler pulley bracket were removed. This is by far the biggest part of the weight. Those hardlines and condenser/dryer pieces weigh VERY little.

channelmaniac's 1990 Mazda MiataThe front nose of the car had to be partially disassembled to drop the condenser out the front. Here are all the parts removed. Since Titus had an extra set of the hard lines we screwed these back into the condenser, cut them, and crimped them over to keep the dryer from sucking enough moisture from the air to kill it.

The nose of the car was put back together and I have a small list of more fasteners to buy. Damn, this car sure is missing a lot of little fasteners. Those things add up. :P
