1970 Oldsmobile 442...     SOLD!
ItsA442's 1970 Oldsmobile 442

ItsA442's 1970 Oldsmobile 442

⊕   ⊕   Added more photos at the bottom of this page with what's left of the build sheet (if you want a full size version of the build sheet, send me and email),books that go with the car and I have some motor mounts also. There are pictures of the vin and cowl tag at the bottom of page 2.

♣     The car is in very good running condition, I have not rejetted the carb for the higher altitude here in ID, but it ran even better in VA where the car was bought. It definitely likes a few gallons of race gas added to a tank full of premium gas beings it was formerly built as a race car. I was able to buy 116 octane from the pump and would ad 3-5 gallons to a full tank of gas. I have a lot of pictures on these five pages with some of the things that were done while I owned the 442. The body is in pretty good shape, it's fairly straight and has a few bubbles in the paint at the rear quarters, I do think there is some filler where the body molding use to be, the holes are filled in. No power steering and has manual drum brakes and bucket seats. Bumpers are painted over, the rear looks to be in good shape and aligned properly, the front bumper looks to be slightly misaligned on the passengers side. The grill is in good shape and I also have another grill (cutlass) that has some slight damage that goes with the sale of the car. The car was orig. an AC car, but has none of the AC parts that were on the car from the factory. Has no original center console. This car would make a good project car for someone who is interested in these collectible automobiles. If you have any questions that aren't listed, please feel free to email me at: terylsdad@yahoo.com Thank You In Advance For Looking!

♣     Bought the car with the intentions to fix it up, but I have not had the time or the money. So it is up for sale. The following list is the information that I know from the previous owner and myself.

⊕   455 bored to 461 c.i. with oil restrictors.

⊕   Stock crank, balanced, cross drilled oil holes and chamfered.

⊕   Stock rods with Mondello rod bolts.   Oil hole drilled at the pin and balanced.

⊕   Venolia forged flat top notched pistons for big cam and balanced.

⊕   Lunati cam..  560 in 570 ex with solid lifters, degreed and stock timing chain.

⊕   Mondello heads.   100 HP over stock, ported, polished, fitted with screen in studs, heat risers welded closed, oversized pushrods, harland sharp roller rockers 1.7 to 1.

⊕   Edelbrock torker intake, matched to heads.

⊕   Holley 850 carburetor with a 50cc rear pump.

⊕   Mallory h.e.i. hyfire 4 electronic ignition with rev limiter chips.

⊕   10.7:1 compression ratio built with 3 head gaskets.   2 would be 11.0:1 and 1 would be 11.3:1

⊕   12 bolt olds rear end with 4.33 gears.

⊕   Mondello oil pump and 8 quart pan.

⊕   (TH350)   4200 stall torque converter with trans cooler.

⊕   3" exhaust all the way out.   Dumps in front of rear axle.

⊕   Ladder bar suspension system.

⊕   Has small electric fuel pump and manual fuel pump also.

⊕   Rear tires are M/T ET street slicks 30x12.50 on 15X10 centerline solid aluminum wheels with 4.5” of backspacing and the fronts are 165R15 tires on 15X4 rims.

⊕   Auto meter monster tach with shift light, amps gauge (not hooked up on separate panel), liquid filled oil pressure and temp gauges.

⊕   Has electric windows front and rear (still work well).

⊕   B&M star shifter. I have two shifter boots for it.

⊕   Very old and very tired black imron paint.   Not much life left in the paint, but will hold a shine if it's kept out of the elements.

⊕   No inner fenders for cooling purposes

⊕   Has mismatched wheels installed for winter, I think the other rear wheels are corvette ralley's.

⊕   Recently installed new Stainless Steel brake lines from mid car to the rear wheels (including the rear rubber brake hose).

⊕   Recently installed monroe front shocks (yellow).

⊕   Recently installed 4 new brake bleeder valves.

⊕   Has Jensen Stereo, but no rear speakers installed.

⊕   No rear package tray (rear defrost fan is still there, but not hooked up.

⊕   Recently installed holley carb kit using blue reusable gaskets (has secondary power valve block off installed and centek main power valve protector also installed).

⊕   Two sets of tires come with the sale and I also have a budge car cover that goes with the car.

⊕   I have an extra grill and a set of extra sill plates.

⊕   Chrome windshield trim and wheel well moldings also come with the sale, but are not installed.

⊕   Recently installed header gaskets.

⊕   New brake pedal pad installed.

♣     Some of the problems with the car are as follows:

⊕   Has a slow oil leak around the oil pan drain plug bung.

⊕   Has no carpet. (carpet on the door panels are in bad shape)

⊕   Windshield has a leak at the top (Missing a few of the molding studs).

⊕   All original dash gauges do not work (spedo cable is not hooked up to transmission and clock does not move.

⊕   Rear defrost switch turns the elec. fuel pump on and off.

♣     A few videos of the 442 and lots of pictures to follow:

Beautiful car. Don't sell it, when you do you will regret it. One of these years down the road you'll want another 442 and they will either be too expensive or too far gone to mess with. Just park it and chill. I know if I hadn't kept my car since it was new, I could never aford to buy it and fix it up both. Stop by and checkout my Pontiac, see if you see any simularities. Good luck with what you decide to do. The car needs very little work considering it's 36 years young. Later, Kenny
