Here is my 2000 Ford Taurus. The only thing that I have done to this granny mobile is the sound system. Here are a few pictures of my custom system. I put 3 10" Clif Designs subs paired with 3 Infinity Reference 310A amplifiers in a custom enclosure fit to maximize space inside the trunk. Two of the subs are firing up and 1 towards the rear of the car. I ran all 4 gauge power wire to the distribution block and 10 gauge to the amps. I have zero dimming lights with this setup and that is a surprise. As you may have noticed, I ran out of carpet which is why that one trim ring is plain wood. This setup SLAMS!!!

*Updates*
I recently encountered some power problems with my stock battery. I replaced it with an Optima Yellow Top D34/78 and definitely made the power to the amps more clean. The D34/78 was not made for the 2000 up Taurus but after I took some measurements I decided to take the chance. It does fit and fits nicely. You do have to rotate the battery so that the terminal are facing the front of the car. The stock wiring harnesses are to short to stretch across the battery which is the reason for rotating. If you put it in the "normal way" the negative side is towards the engine and the power wires are not long enough to stretch over the top hence the rotation.
If you are interested in going this route I price matched the battery from Autozone online (149.99) to a local Sears and they gave 10% the difference which made it 146 with tax.
