plokivos's 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution

I am part of the largest Evolution Owners club in Georgia.

Evolution Owners club of GA///SE.

Here is the forum. Link EVO GA///SE

we all get together on weekends and hang out and venture into mountain runs, drag strip and auto-x on weekends.

I got out of drag racing a while back, since it's more fun for me to drive this car then go in a straight line.

Here are my mods. It's minimal and I don't want to go overboard with the car because it's my daily driven, weekend race car.

UPDATE: 09-20-06 : haven't been on here forever! I have added the AEM EMS with the map sensor now.

Plans are now : 2.3 liter stroker kit, GT30R turbo, and new set of rims for racing.

It should be done by the end of next year with slew of more mods ready to show for the NOPI Nationals!

I will have some new pictures up shortly.

Thanks!

UPDATE: 01-09-06: New pictures on second page!

UPDATE: 12-28-05:

Happy holidays guys!

well, unfortunately, someone "bumped" in to my PARKED Evo at my work parking garage.

My front headlight is in million pieces and the front bumper is deformed and scratched up bad.

To Look at this in a positive light, with the insurance money, I will be doing some updating.

JDM MR blacked out headlights will go in at $700 for pair(just the housing) and eventually I will add the JDM MR blacked out tail lights.

Also, I think the front bumper will be replaced.

I thought about Evo 9 bumper, but I will keep my Evo 8 bumper. I think they look better.

So, look for some pictures of new look by end of January. Also, I am getting another ECU flash then current, which will feature 2 step launch control!

That and Greddy Front Mount and LPI Intercooler (upper and lower) pipings will go in by the end of January or middle of Febuary.

Wish me luck.

mods: (updated! 11-28-05 - will have more pictures up soon)

-272 intake / 264 exhaust - Got the HKS cams in, they are great. Idle is aggressive but not rough. The combo I have gives a lot more torque then the whp, which is more ideal for road racing, and stop and go racing.

-RMR Intake - This intake goes by the pure induction formula, where it's 3 times the surface of what the engine needs. The unique part of this intake is that inside, there is a cone in the middle of the intake that points towards the MAF sensor which helps air to direct more into the honey comb MAF sensor that goes by the Karman Vortex system rather than Hotwire like other import manufacturers.

-Hallman MBC PRO RX EVO - this is one with the cockpit control. Works great, and it's easy to use, simple straight forward design.

-Greddy Type S BOV - Took it off, didn't like it

-Agency Power Dual Chamber BOV - I'm venting to Atmosphere with these and it works great. It could be recirculated or VTA. But the cool thing about this one is that it could do 50/50 recir/vta or 100/0 recir/vta or 0/100 recir/vta. Works suprisingly good without the dreaded Stalling out on stop.

-Wilks Custom TBE - This TBE makes more power then any other
exhaust out in the market now. it's custom welded and built.

-K&N Filter - This makes good power. I wanted to keep my stock intake box, because believe it or not, stock intake on an Evo's very well made for the Karman Vortex MAF sensor.

-SAFC II - Got my leaner map setup for 100 octane and few monitoring functions.

-RSM with G-sensor - To measure my G at the track and Keep it up with my RPM at the track without looking down.

-MR Vortex Generator - Keeps my car stable at 100mph + with the windows up and it works great.

-Summit battery relocation kit - cheap $50, helps it relocate the heavy stock battery to the rear trunk. It helps weight distribution enormously. and makes ton of room in the engine bay.

-ACT 2900 Street disc- Probably the best single disc clutch out there for an Evo. I have it, it's worth it.

-Espelir ASD Springs - It lowers the car 0.8 inch all around. Stiffer than the stock linear spring setup, yet softer on regular driving since it's progressive. Great springs.

-Whiteline Rear Strut bar with quick release - set it pretty stiff, and it works great at getting my rear to swing out on turn ins.

-Hotchkis Rear sway bar 24mm - Stiffest setting, keeps my rear tight and does help solidify the rear as well as make it swing out better.

-Razo 350R shiftknob - this is a great counterweight shift knob for anyone who wants it. It's black metallic finish and it makes shifting a lot easier.

-HKS Type-0 TT- Very straight forward TT. Could set it up for warming my car during the winter time as well. Keep the oil flowing after a hard track run.

-Kumho RT-615 -(255/40/17)- great tires. Probably the best I've owned so far. Almost as good as the stock advan tires.

-I have a ECU flash for fuel management.

-Carbon Trix Engine spark plug cover that I've won from making their logo. Great CF parts from Carbon Trix (division of Road Race Engineering)

- All the interior tricks and mods.

Current WHP/TQS : 320/318

I've ran 12.9@108mph (with 280whp/290tq) so far before the AFR tune, Boost cut removal and more stuff added on to my Evo. So after the cams and tune again, I'm expecting low 12's at 110 mph +.

I don't drag race much anymore, so I will probably spend most of the tuning and power toward road racing in the future.

Future Plans: (Updated: 12-28-05)

-Tein Coilovers basic
-ECUTEK
-Front Strut bar TI
-Front Sway bar-25mm adjustable
-5ZIGEN FNO1R-C : black with polished lip 17x9 all around
-sparco mid bar
-In car computer (yes)
-Buschur Manifold - jet coated, ported
-Evo 6.5 TME Turbo with 10.5 hotside. (Titanium shaft and turbine)
-Custom upper and lower IC pipes
-lower front struts from RRE.
-Sparco Race harness.
- New Custom made TBE
- O2 Housing

Thanks guys for all the good words. It's an unreal feeling when you're driving this car, but it's impossible to describe what it feels like to ride out with 5, 10 Evo's next to you. Tune in once in a while, I have decided to go for the power! and the balance of handling. I am going for 400whp +. Meth kit will be in shortly. ;)
