* "...Little Man, it's time for bed..." *
So Matt and I went to see Jason's Mom last night. As usual we just sat around and talked about old memories with Jason and good times we had with him. Jill (Jason's mom) has a Siamese cat named Little Man. Little Man used to be Jason's cat. Believe you me, this cat was Jason's and noone else's. That cat used to not go near Jill or anyone else for that matter. Now this cat has an intersting story.
Jill, one day, (about 5 years ago) took their 2 cats to the vet to get spayed and declawed. Upon arrival, the nurse showed Jill a sick Siamese kitten who had a nasty case of diahrea of all things... Jill couldn't help herself, rather than allow the cat to be euthanized, she promptly adopted the little thing. She took the kitten home where he was named, at first, Squirt. Get it? So Squirt was quickly nursed back to health by Jill and her son. Within a week, he was all but healed. By two weeks he was like any average kitten. So this kitten grew and became a cat, soon to be renamed Little Man, all the while befriended by Jason. Jason took on a sort of paternal role with this cat. This cat slept with Jason, this cat ate with Jason, this cat answered to Jason's commands, protected Jason, sometimes a lil too much, earning him a bad reputation with guests, this cat was JASON'S cat. When Jason was ready to go to bed at night he would get up and say "Little Man, time for bed." and the cat would hurry up the stairs and meet Jason at his door. In the mornings, he would wake Jason up, at lunch when Jason would come home to eat, the cat would wait for him anxiously by the door upon hearing his arrival from the loud pipe on his Honda Civic. This was JASON's cat. (This cat almost sounds a bit like he had some dog like qualities ya know?) Anyhow, After Jason's death, Little Man didn't know what to do. The night of Jason's death, Little Man ran away, very unlike him, he got out of the house somehow and disappeared. Two days had passed and Little Man returned home. Troubles did not end there, he did not eat for 2 weeks, he barely slept, all he did was lay on Jason's shoes and cry all night. I have never heard a cat cry, but Jill, bless her heart, imitated it as best she could for us, it isn't a pretty sound. Little Man would sit at the doorstep to Jason's room, he would wander into the garage and expect to see Jason out there workin on that blasted Honda Civic, He would wait by the front door, surely Jason was coming home sometime. More time had passed, Jason still never came home, Little Man still cried for him everytnight. The summer ended, fall arrived, winter came, and then the snows melted. Jill couldn't stand to live in that house any longer, she decided to sell the house and move out. People came to look at the house, many came and went, to each Little Man extended the same greeting, it must have gone a lil something like this: "You can come in, you can look around, but you WILL NOT go into my Jason's room." That cat would not allow people to enter into Jason's room. Jill would have to pick that cat up and kennel him until the possible buyers had left, and after they had gone Little Man would search the house, particularly Jason's room to make sure they had truly gone. After selling the house and while moving out, Jill allowed Little Man to stay at the house until the the very last thing was moved. All the while caring for the sad animal. This cat used to hate Jill, now at least he would eat the food she gave him. Finally the day came that the last boxes were to be moved out. They were loaded up, then Jill took Little Man one last time to Jason's room. They said good bye to the old house. Jill loaded Little Man into her car and pulled out of that driveway for the last time. On the way to the new house, Jill took Little Man to the cemetary to see his friend, his caregiver, his dad. They pulled up to the grave (the road through the cemetary is not but 6 feet away from Jason's stone) and Jill pointed to the stone, telling Little Man it's significance. Little Man didn't need to be told, he knew where he was, he went over to the window, almost immediately, looked out over the resting place, and uttered a long, sad meow or two. Jill left and made her way to their new home. Little Man was released into the new home and has since become Jill's cat. He is HER cat now, he only answers to her, lays with her, sleeps with her, goes to bed when she says it is time for bed, wakes her up. You might say that Jill is taking care of Little Man now, but that is truly not the case, Little Man is taking car of Jill now, like Jason took care of him. I am pretty sure that the day Little Man was taken to the grave to see Jason, he said good bye to his old friend and Jason asked Little Man to take care of his mom, a payment of sorts, for the years of care and devotion to that animal. Little Man said good bye to Jason, Little Man doesn't cry anymore, he doesn't wait by the door anymore. Little Man now has comfort in the fact that his master, his friend, Jason, is in a better place. Little man is now a very happy cat, he is still very protective, (still a lil like a dog) but he takes care of the one person who needs it most right now, he does it for Jason.

Tonight Was So Amazing... I've never seen so much white smoke in my life...
Today was spent waiting anxiously for Matthew to get out of school. I got the call from him around 3:30ish and jumped in the car and headed over. I got to Matt's house and he soon arrived also. We immediately got to work locating spare wheels and tires for this evenings festivities. We had no luck on rims for the 240. We did however get the spare steelies and tires for Jason's old CRX and put them on, got the car running, loaded on the trailer, and ready for tonight. We grabbed some wheels and tires for Jesse's truck and headed to town. I headed home and Matt went to Jason's house to see how Jason's mom and family were doing on the this, probably the hardest day of the year for them. Time kept ticking on. 11:00 rolled around, 37 more minutes to go. The usual gang had met up at Aldis and we then all headed down to Mitchell to Cresthaven Cemetary. We all lined up our cars in the front row of the parking lot and then went to grave to see Jase and have our peice with him. After we were all ready to head back we left the grave and went back to parking lot to wait on Jason's familys' arrival. More and more of Jason's friends showed up and soon his mom, sister, and niece, his grandmother Mimi, and Matt (truck, trailer, and Jason's CRX) had all pulled in aswell. We unloaded the CRX and then gathered again at his grave site and Jason's mom said a few words. It was hard to be there. I can only imagine the pain, Jill (Jason's mom) was going through to sit there and tell us all how she wanted to thank us for coming and how she missed and loved him very much. She said it best when she told us all that she knew we loved him too. She has probably never been so right in her life. Those people gathered there tonight love Jason and miss him very much. After Jill was finished speaking, Matt and I hurried away to the parking lot and got the CRX ready and warmed up for what it was about to do. Matt turned the key in Jason's old car, started it up and rolled her over to the road there in front of the cemetary. Our buddy Chad walked in front of the CRX pouring a bleach/water mixture on the road, Matt rolled into it, we chaulked the rear tires, and many of us out there grabbed a hold of the car to keep it from moving. Matt racked up the RPM and dumped the clutch. The CRX came to life burning the tires, spewing molten rubber as it went, we together, held that car still, and watched in awe as Jason's car did one last burnout. It lasted a couple minutes, Jill capturing it all on tape. Matt did a few more burnouts with the CRX and then put it back on the trailer as the rest of us out there took our cars to the road and began to do the same, following one after the other, one at a time. David burned off his tires in his Neon, then Jesse in his Ranger, then Seth in his Eclipse, Mike in his Beretta, Elijah in his Trans Am, Me in my 240sx (let it be known I popped a tire and shot sparks mid burnout), Chad in his Accord, Ryan in his Civic, it went on for what seemed like forever, all the while, Jill was capturing it on tape. (I've never seen so much white smoke in my life...) I can see where Jason got it from, that kid loved to tape footage like that. So after repaving the road with fresh rubber, we all dispursed and met back up at the usual place, to change tires and say our See ya Laters. The night went smooth and it was beautiful. I don't expect many of you to understand this beauty. But to a tuner, street racer, drifter, gear head, grease monkey, weekend warrior, car buff, whatever, it is a beautiful sight to see fellow car buffs and friends gather to honor a fallen Tuner. We gave Jason one of the best gifts you can give a Tuner tonight, we gave him our honor, our repsect, and our tires, we offered that tire smoke up for you Jason. I know how much that kid loved the smell of burning rubber, to imagine the smile on Jason's face is where the true beauty rests. We miss you very much brother. You are no forgotten. I want to thank everyone for coming out and showing their repsect for Jason, he was a truly great man. I ask you to say a prayer for Jill and her family, and maybe if you get a chance, if you knew Jason, or would like to just show your respect, send a lil tire smoke his way. Thank you Jason, for being who you are, your memories help to keep us all strong, watch over us, and help guide us. See you up there bro.

Drifting in Heaven...
Tomorrow is the worst day of the year for many of us. It is a very sad day, but a day to celebrate, we celebrate his life. Jason Rose was born June 25, 1984. I met Jason a few years back, and really only got to be good friends with him months before his death August 31, 2004. Jason was a very friendly guy, he was very outgoing and would drop whatever he was doing to help a friend. He was very involved in the Import Tuner culture, he was known by his white Honda Civic hatch. He had put a Japanese D16Zc motor into the civic, it was very much a legendary sleeper car in our small town area. Many a hillbilly camaro met it's demise at the hands of that civic. More than the Civic, Jason was known for being a good driver, a great DDR'er, and a hell of a snow boarder. I have, now, fond memories of racing around with Jason, watching him play DDR, which he was amazingly good at, hopping junk yards, cruising, working on our cars together, or just hanging out. Jason had a lot of friends and made an impact on a lot of peoples' lives. As I sit here and try to describe to you how he lived, in his honor, I can't help but to not even scratch the surface on who he even was, words can not describe how good a human being he was. He supported himself and his family. He took care of his mother and sister as well as his young neice. Jason was a family man. His family was a very big, well huge, part of his life. Jason was also involved in his church and was active in youth programs. Jason was a very busy guy. He worked at WalMart and I would safely say that everyone there knew him. He was that kind of guy, he made it his business to know everyone and at least try to be a friend. Jason was such an amazing person. Jason is now in heaven, (this is why we celebrate) I know that. He is looking down on us all, and especially those he left behind. Jason has looked out for me on several occasions, I am pretty sure he has taken over the position of my guardian angel from whoever had it first. August 31, 2004 Jason was on his way to a friend's house in Bloomington, after just fixing his Honda Civic, which had been broken for about a month or so, Jason was driving down a side road and was struck by a drunk driver. Jason was pronounced dead at 11:37PM that night. One lesson, a very important lesson, that we can all learn from this is not to drink and drive. Please don't drink and drive, don't let friends drink and drive, take their keys, hide their keys, do what it takes. A family, friends, many loved ones lost a good person on August 31, 2004. Jason will be missed very much. His impact on the tuner scene in our small corner of the world is felt everyday. Many nights are spent hanging out and remembering those times we spent in the company of Jason. So here is to you brother. I miss you very much, I will see you someday. I love you man. Jason Rose you will be missed.
In Memory of Jason Rose. June 25, 1984 - August 31, 2004. You are always missed, Never forgotten. My prayers are with your family and friends.
