MODIFICATION: Bipes Mount
The Bipes is a small computer that controls the engine timing advance (and prevents the supercharger from melting the pistons when under boost). One can set various levels of timing advance, which allows one to tune the engine to be very powerful, very hot, and still not destroy it - very handy. Link to Bipes Automotive
PROBLEM:
In the process of digging mine out from behind the glove box, I encountered a rash of problems. Most can be boiled down to the green connector. Even after I tinned the wire ends, torqued the screws, and zip tied it down, I still had problems whenever I touched the unit, especially when running ... aggg. So I did the following.
SOLUTION:
Make triple sure the connections are good, and flexible.
STEPS
(1) Re-cut the wire ends to be equal.
(2) Re-tined the wire ends and left a small ball of solder (see photos).
(3) Slipped on two layers of shrink wrap (the last one black).
(4) Placed the black wire first and made triple sure it was good.
(5) Added each wire carefully and torqued the screws.
(6) Coiled the wires (see photos) and shrunk the wrap.
(7) Added Velcro hooks to the body of the Bipes (both sides).
(8) Applied a loop Velcro to the space under the cigarette lighter (see photos of Velcro package).
(9) Plugged the green plug in and secured it with four straps of loop Velcro using the hook on both sides of the Bipes body.
(note: I could not find loop without sticky back so I used sticky back and it left fingerprints and is not attractive, but is is also not visible. I will replace with loop straps when I can find them.)
(10) Mounted the Bipes (upside-down) under the cigarette lighter (see photos).
In this location I can see the first couple lights when the come on through the slot in the steering wheel. While driving I can see the Bipes lights in my periferal vision but it is not obvious / obtrusive. When I am pulling retard I can see the lights come on and if I need a better glance it is still easier. I can still pull the Bipes and change the switches as needed, even while the engine is running.
Velcro you will need (also available in all black) plus solder and shrink wrap.

Bipes wiring and green connector (Steps 1 through 5).

Bipes wiring rolled and sticky straps (loops) (Step 6).

Bipes module with Velcro (hooks) added to both sides of the body (Steps 7, 8, 9).

Bipes in action. One can observe the driver knee is clear of the Bipes. Notice the first two lights are on the right. The Bipes is mounted upside down allowing the first lights to be most obvious and viewed when they first come on.

I also cleaned up the splices near the car's computer. Wire nuts were previously used (see photo) and are not the best for automotive applications because they are subject to the negative effects of water and vibration. I cleaned this up with solder, shrink-wrap and then a coat of black paint (no photo).

RESULTS:
The system is highly reliable. I can make switch changes to the display while the engine is running without a problem.
