This was my 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. The car has since been sold. It had the T-5 5-speed transmission, mated to a turbocharged 2.3L I4, which pushed around 12 pounds of boost. This engine makes 190hp and 240ft/lbs of torque at 3400rpm at the flywheel. This car was fully loaded with every option except leather, including the power sunroof, dual power seats, and electronic climate control.

The sound system was a custom 6-speaker system, in which the two door speakers were powered by a Sony amp in the trunk. The dash and rear deck speakers were powered by the Sony head unit, and there was another Sony amp in the trunk powering one Rockford Fosgate 12" sub in a custom enclosure.

The only performance upgrades were Eibach 1.5" lowering springs all the way around, a K&N filter in the stock location, a SPEC racing clutch, and a Walbro fuel pump. The car sat on 16" American Racing aluminum wheels. The side molding had been shaved, as had the trunk lock. A completely new front header panel, bumper cover, and headlights were put on by the previous owner. The Chrysler Pearl White paint was only a few years old. The car ran very well and was a joy to drive.

This car won second place in the '83-'87 TC class at the 2004 Carlisle all-Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA. It was, without a doubt, one of the nicest TCs still in existance.

12 lbs only makes 190 horse? Is this a OHV or DOHC 2.3?
