The Audio
For audio, I decided to go with fiberglass due the limited leg room in a regular cab. Here is what I did, and how.
I started by casting a form from fiberglass of the back of the cab. I then built a partial frame from MDF to create the form I was looking for. Here I am test fitting the amps to make sure they fit before I go any further.
Here I have wrapped the form I created with a fleece material. Once stretched tight, I then began to brush it with Polyester resin until wet. I let it dry for several hours until hard.
Here I have added two layers of fiberglass matt, I will be adding three more. I will then do a little sanding, followed be a few layers of feather fill (spray bondo as some like to call it), sand, and then sand some more. It will then be prepped for paint and hauled off the body shop for paint.
Here is the finshed product ready to go the bodyshop for paint.
Here is the test fit in the truck. It fit like a glove, but it did not provide me with the leg room that I had hoped for. I will scrap this one, and build another one. I want to stick with the 10.1 from infinity, because it will
knock the breath out of you. It looks like I will have to go with an 8" or two.
I could not find enough room for my Rockford Symetry and XM Sat to go into the rack, I had to put one under each seat.
System configuration:
JL 300/4 #1
Chan 1&2 will power MB Quart tweeters
Chan 3&4 will power MB Quart midrange
JL 300/4 #2
Chan 1&2 will power MB Quart Mid-Bass
Chan 3&4 will be bridged to power Infinity 10inch Perfect 10.1 subwoofer
All processing is done via the Rockford Symetry. Each speaker will have its own dedicated amplifier channel, with its own crossover point via the Symetry.
Non-stop music is provide by XM Satellite. If you dont own one, it is the coolest piece of gear I have bought in years. It is worth the $10 every month.
