These are some pics from a recent MZ3 drive meet... There are tons more just haven't had the chance to get them all from the people who took them... Enjoy... Thanks to Angela for the summary on the event...
I definetly need to thank all of you, that showed up, for making this day such a success!! (those of you with excuses... your cool too. ) The "no shows".... que paso??
With out the turnout that we had, (11 cars) we would have not have had such a great time. Everything went smoothly, we drove through some bad weather, heavy fog and winds, and rain, and we all made it home with out a scratch. Honestly... Mazda 3 drivers, know how to drive!!
RECAP:
I arrived at COSTCO (Plaza Centro) about 0830. On my way up there, it was raining, so I was pissed b/c my car had been washed the night before. Anyways... got there, it was windy and chilly but no rain as I was drying it off a "guest" of the forums showed up in his Velocity Red sedan. Along with his son, holding our flyers. We chatted a bit while the others who were at Montehiedra showed up. Arrivng around 0930 (Zil, Hardnutz, Billy3, Walorotary, mazda3speedPR, Zol Edrev PR, and Taynec) when they came around the corner, it was sweet!
Introductions were made, and old friends were greeted. 10am we rolled out. All in single file, lights on.. looking so good!! And the rain began...
First toll, Caguas ($1.00) as we get closer, through the walkie talkies I hear "I need to stop at an ATM", "me too" The didn't have $$ for the tolls. NAda, I paid for cars #2, 3, and 5. And off we went... Once we hit Cayey the weather was still yucky. Traveling at a great speed and order! Once we passed the Cayey exit.. Nab33 was there waiting on us! He hopped in and off we went.
The rain/fog/wind got worse the higher we went up the mountain.
We reached "EL Jibarito" and there was a BEAUTIFUL rainbow and over towards the south end of the island the sun and clear skies!
We all pulled into the parking lot... Scared off a couple that was there ALONE.. doing who knows what.. ha ha, they looked up when they saw Zil, but when they saw the rest of the group, they jetted!! HA HA... We all parked up there, the view was amazing as you can see from the many shots we took up there. The most shocking of it all was the weather! The winds were brutal! (aprox 30mph!) Looking at our group pics you can see that we are wering our jackets, the wind is pushing our clothing and we are leaning into the wind. ROFL!! The temperature had to be in the 60's maybe 50's! (Yes, we are in PUERTO RICO) and it was drizzeling so it made it worse! My poor child could not walk with the winds pushing her. I have to admit, it was funny! Then the wind took its toll on us. Throwing us around! It was SO funny! My Dad had to hang on the sOrTiLeGo so he wouldnt fly away while taking pics!
We hung out there for a while, taking pics etc. then when we couldn't take the cold, we headed south.
We stopped at El Cotto for lunch saw a Winning Blue circling the lot where we were all parked, however, he never stopped. We had a tow truck honk as he passed us haning out in the lot, and we all admired how Nab33 and his buddies wipped down his hatch with such care and attention. Lol. Even through all the rain.. my 3 still looking so Sweet!
As we headed to La Guancha.. I made everyone follow me around the Lion in the center of the parking lot. No one knew why, but it looked SO cool. Lol We all paked and just chilled, watching the Cops drive by over and over, looking for a reason to ticket one of us! But nothing happened. We were admired by many. We had a new guy join us while we were there. And PRboy3 arrived!
Once we were ready to head out.. We took a drive going around another circle while sOrTiLeGo was taking aerial shots of us from the tower, and we were taking pics of each other going around! Damn that Mercedes that got in between us. He messed up the rotation
Then we headed to the loading dock.. where we blocked it in COMPLETELY An Police officer drove around us once, trying to look all mean, and then stopped and told us to be quick. We were there about 20 min. Then some customs officers showed up wanting to get by, but they were cool as hell, and told us not to worry to continue on with what we were doing. And they took off to hang out somewhere!
The sun was setting and the pics came out nice!
From here the group headed to get something to eat. I had to part from the group and get my little one to my aunts for a bath. She behaved SO well all day! However, once ready to head back to Fajardo, the group was able to catch up to me and we headed home. Mazda3speedPR flew past me at the toll, put up a peace sign and was gone! Eventualy, Zil, Hardnutz, and Nab33 caught up. I saw that Civic and Lancer fly past me and thought Oh hell, we are gonna start something here.! And there we lost Nab33.
Zil, Hardnutz and myself traveled up and over the mountain.. me heading east on the 30, coming into hell of a traffic b/c o fan ECHO club!! WITH BIOMBOS!!! LOL.
Like I said, the event was awsome, and we must do something like this again!! Take care all and THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
