My name is Tony Flaherty and I live in Ireland, ill start by giving you a brief history of my Polo.It was bought on the 16th of September 2004 from a guy in Roscommon for ?2200.Its a '97 1.4 DOHC 16 valve Special Edition, only difference between mine and any other 1.4 litre Polo is they are 8 valves and dont have a sunroof, some slight diffences in the bodywork too but not important enough to mention. It was completely standard except for the bad boy bonnet and crystal quad headlights.Heres a picture of the car about a month after I got it,PhatPolo's 1997 Volkswagen Polo
I spent about 3 months looking for a bodykit,I wanted to stay as far away from the typical Polo styling that most people go far and having spotted a tiny picture in an English car magazine of a Polo with a bodykit made by a company called Ultimate Velocity I odreder that kit the next day from Premier Motorsport.I dropped the car to my local bodyshop and expected it to be done in about two weeks but as with modifying a car, theres always a problem. When I dropped the car out it was lowered 80 mil all around and it was to low to fit the kit properly so I had to buy new standard springs and fit them. Here are some pictures of the car being built, the first picture and also the biggest problem with fitting the kit was the fact that the mounting holes on the car didnt match the holes on the new bumper so the original bumper had to be cut and moulded onto the new one,

The next picture is of the arches being moulded onto the body, theses didnt come as part of the kit I must add.I decided to mould the arches into the bumpers to give them a more flowing look,

The DTM stlye carbon fibre mirrors and Zenetti 17" chrome rims were fitted while at the bodyshop also, and im happy to add that im the only person in Galway with these rims,

Yea it might be cheezy but that's why I put Bora on mine. That's what they're called in Germany. I wanted to be different. :)
