RATE MY CAR AND SIGN MY GUESTBOOK PLEASE!!!

This is my 1954 Chrysler Windsor, affectionately named "lurch". I bought it about a month ago and have recently gotten it into driving condition. It needs new tires badly. These tires must be at least 30 years old. It is all stock, right down to the 6 volt battery and flathead 6 cylinder engine. It is definitely not as rusty as the pics though.

I don't really know what I'm planning to do with it yet, I will probably switch it over to 12 volt but keep the rest pretty much original.

The interior is in great condition for the age of the car. I was amazed when I initially went and saw the car.

I love the fact that there is no park setting on the automatic "PowerFlite" transmission, just pop it in neutral and set the parking brake!54WINDSOR's 1954 Chrysler Windsor54WINDSOR's 1954 Chrysler Windsor I guess I am just in love with the car in general :)

Also two really neat things came with this car;the owners manual and the original bill of sale.54WINDSOR's 1954 Chrysler Windsor54WINDSOR's 1954 Chrysler Windsor

The car was originally bought in Nov. 1953 for $3542 and came with the following options(all of which it still has): Two tone paint(Everglades Green upper and Mint Green Lower), PowerFlite Transmission, 8 Tube Radio, 602 Heater, Solid Glass, w/s/w Tires, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Electric Clock.

This is Fascinating to me! (I am a nerd, I know) :)
If you have any tips for restoring it let me know!

it is nice know that there are other people out there that like the car that i like. I just acquired a 1954 chrysler windsor deluxe. Unfortunately we tooka closer look at the frame and it is just not worth restoring. I wanted to let anyone here know that if you are looking for parts I have them, it still has all the chrome, the engine runs, the seats are in ok condition but should be cleaned of course. I also have the original shop manual for the car as well as the original dealership add for it. feel free to email me at drixcreations@yahoo.com if anyone is interested.

erica, any progress on this car? i have been driving mt 54 windsor convertible often, top down as much as possible. by the way, it is rare that a windsor in 54 had the power brake option. my conv has it but it has been disconnected by someone during its lifetime. i will get the booster out before i lay it up for the winter and have it rebuilt, then hook it back up. hope you have been driving yours. my email has changed, captden29@peoplepc.com. dennis

Thats a very nice looking ride you got there. The sales ticket and owners manual make it neat to see how much the price of cars went up from back then.Good luck on your project and if you get a chance to sometime come check out my 1991 S-10 project truck and let me know what you think about it so far.

Iabsolutely love your 54 Windsor. Ever think of tricking it out? I have one as well. Mine needs some work. The guy I bought it off of started a frame off restoration. Now it's on to the body and rest. Would you happen to know where I could get a spitfire flat head 6?
