suhsia1's 1964 Ford Galaxie

Purchased in 1989, this classic 1964 XL 500 Fastback was a sad sight. Original 390 was dumped for a 428 7-Litre implant, runs a 750 cfm Holley, Edelbrock Performer intake, Crane cam and forged pistons.

.

The original T10 gearbox was replaced with a Top Loader. Converted from Left to Right Hand Drive, given a new floor, body was then stripped back and Monza Red 2-Pack applied. Suspension was completely overhauled with 1" sway bars and Koni shocks installed.Convo-Pro Wheels from Centreline and BF Goodrich boots all round give it good footing. All Trim is original factory 'XL'. Built over a period of 11 years, this can only be described as a labour of love. Car and owner reside in Perth, Western Australia, and is a daily driver, giving true meaning to "Driven - Not Hidden" .

Credit goes to John Barlow of JR Auto Restorations for the left to right hand drive conversion, and for the excellent body preparation and painting. The original colour was Rangoon Red so the 1989 Ford Monza Red was not too big a departure from the original.

Original rear springs reset and fronts dropped 2" with new Lovells Springs. 1" purpose built swaybar keeps car stable and eliminated the factory optioned bodyroll! 15 x 8 1/2" Centreline Convo-Pro's dressed with 265x15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on rear with 15 x 7" with 245x15's on front. Credit to Rod Ryan of W.A. Suspensions for all the suspension work. Rod is an old Ford fan and a major sponsor of many of the local hot rod and custom car events.
