I bought this 16V Scirocco Spring 05, it was advertised in the Scirocco Classifieds for $1000 and was located in Houston TX, it was in really nice shape except the buy thought it had a cracked head. It had been lowered (just springs) and supposedly the head had been "worked" by some shop. He lowered his price to $500, and another person tried swooping it from under me so we settled on $700 and I'd have my friend pick it up and store it at his place for a few weeks until I could pick it up.

The car was in nice shape, the paint was a little oxidized (came from AZ) and the dash had a crack or 2 in it (again AZ). But overall it was a nice condition 16V, and it ran too! Just had an overheating problem. So I towed it back to Metairie with the Girlfriends Pathfinder and sat on it for a couple weeks, I'd start it up and drive it around the block to charge the battery until one day the head gasket really let go, so I took it all apart and put a rebuilt head, new head gasket, t-belt etc etc on the car. Turned out there was no cracks in that old head and there was no evidence of any headwork ever been done other than a gasket replacement (with a shit gasket I might add). I have yet to finish installing all the drive belts and get her running agian though. With the summer heat here and the fact that I Bought a Go-Kart and now a Miata this project has been derailed for little bit.

UPDATE: I finally finished her! I can't believe I didn't finish it sooner. All I had to do was tighten up a few hose clamps add coolant and tighten up some bolts and nuts on the accessory and timing belts. I had the timing way retarded and the car sounded like one of those lopy idling big blocks, but after I figured out my error I set it got her set dead nuts on at 6*BTDC and she's running like a raped ape. Infact the motor pulls quite a bit harder than my Miata. The car doesn't handle half as well though :( . That's why I put her up for sale, and after 1 day already found someone who want to buy it. After I sell this I'll only have 1 VW left.

I remember riding in a silver sci just like this one to meet my relatives for the 1st time. I was in the Air Force, back in 1995 and needed a ride to the metro so I could get to London to meet my British relatives for the 1st time. John's Scirocco later caught on fire (under the hood) at our dorms and people stood around lauging as he went crazy, he was a wild guy.
