Suspension

I haven't really addressed the suspension of my car yet just the very basics so far.

Above: Wheels are Borbet Type S 16" x 7.5". Weight is 17.5 lbs. per wheel which is a little on the porky side but there aren't many choices for lightweight good looking wheels in the 16" size. My thoughts after looking at every Miata I could find with Aftermarket wheels was that 15" was OK but still looked a little small on the car, 17" only looked good on Miatas with full body kits (front-rear-side valances) and the weight & price go up accordingly. So 16" wheels look what I consider to be perfect on the M1 or M2.

Above: The tires are Sumitomo HTZ II 205 45/WR16. I went with these because of price, recommendations, and tread design. They handle excellent, in wet and dry conditions. Both wheels & tires were purchased through the Tire Rack.

Above: Shocks & Springs consist of KYB 8-way adjustable shocks with Suspension Techniques 1.5" Street Springs. The Shocks were purchased also at the Tire Rack, and the Springs which are pretty tired (85,000 miles) were purchased 8 years ago from JC Whitney. They will be upgraded to possibly Racing Beat Street Springs.

Above: The above wheels are the Factory 14" wheels that I sold last fall. They were Polished and Powdercoated, these were used for 7 years and were in as good a shape as they were when I had them polished, I'm sorry I ever got rid of them.

The suspension will be totally redone, possibly next spring, with new urethane bushings, sways, strut tower braces and subframe braces. Most likely Racing Beat equipment as I've used their products before and am very happy with them.
