When i first purchased the car, I saw the outside beauty, but didn't really look at the whole structure. After seeing the underside, and how floor pans had been TEK screw'd in, I decided to go for Chassis restoration

A Cobra Jet SVO Ford 460 is shoehorned in the engine compartment, which i am excited about. It is rated at 530 H.P. with an 850 holley 4-Barrel carb.

Along with the floors, the center hump where the 4-speed goes, is a mess. The under hood compartment is gloss black, and holds dirt, and the radiator support is beat-up pretty good.

I now have most of the car stripped down and plan to have the underside sand blasted by mid September.
Area's that I could use Info and Tips on are: Sheetmetal Welding, Paint Stripping, and how does that windshield come out with that top stainless steel molding piece.
I'd love to hear from you. Donnie

I originally had a 460 Dove head for my lady, also a 429 bellhousing for a 4 speed top loader. I cut the shock towers and had it in but decided to lighten it up and go with the roller 5.0. C-4 so it would be an easier street machine. I bet the big block will be fun.

Very nice looking Fairlane! I would love to do coil overs on mine but I'm afraid to cut it up. I will be updating my page soon.

Nice looking Fairlane. Love the 460. Wish I had used one. My 71 Torino is plenty fast I just don't have to think about twisting it in half. Take a look at mine. Good Luck

And your car is very nice. Wish I had something like that to start out with instead of what I'm currently working on, but I guess you take what you get when you're broke.

I just used a sandblaster on the engine compartment of my car after removing everything that was in it, though I have heard that a good way is just to use that aircraft stripper to remove the majority of paint, and a sander on what it doesn't get. I know you don't want to sandblast on body panels, because it leaves them wavy after they're painted. I guess this might go for the engine compartment too, but I wasn't that worried about it.
