3May2006
-PS lines all done
-Z32 fuel pump installed
-all fuel lines complete
-intake w/HKS SMF filter (and triple layer filter element coming)
-hotpipe W/blitz BOV all set up
-wiring harness almost done, just need to run line for MAFs, then solder up grounds and ECU plug == hidden engine harness

need to do:
get engine on stand
reinstall new crank
fab up bracket for VR sensor
install aluminum driveshaft
wiring gauges

then after break-in
Megasquirt, bing injectors, FPR, 4.363+HLSD pumpkin, rear subframe spacers

then comes paint, once paint is complete and no leaks, then interior goes back in and digital climate controls installed

new future list

-cam regrinds 270/9.0 uses stock valvetrain (except for some tomei valve springs, already got em, just need to get the cam regrinds) and they keep making power up to 9k RPM (or so the dyno says)
-top mount maifold + T04E
-Junkyard CA20DET is going to go into the AE86 now, not teh s13, i will update my AE86 cardomain page when i get time
-been messing with megasquirt, like it sofar, will love it once the GPIO board comes out... because im a nerd, and like to program stuff

17 Nov 2006
no new pics up yet (nothing worth taking pics of)
as i am working on getting rebuilt 4AGE back into the AE86 for now, then once thats i, back to work on teh silvia. prepping to a swap to megasquirt will be quick and painless \.

Work on the silvia is very slow now, as I am trying to finish my degree through an online college and trying to save money for a down payment on a house. the main focus is get both the s13 and ae86 moving under their own power

i bought a 79 gmc sierra grande (to move engines/parts and tow cars) and an MX83 cressida for a daily driver (until everything else is running, then it gets a 7MGTE+5speed from a MKIII turbo supra) and the GMC will probably eventually get a manual tranny, and a megaquirt to convert it to EFI and improve gas mileage (it came with a brake controller, and work/tiedown frame instead of a cap. NO DOOR HANDLES ON THE INSIDE, the truck just didnt come with them............. dont know why

no new pics, i AM working on the car tho, will update when a significant change/progress is made

14Apr2006
hooked up: fuel lines, heater lines, leads for oil pres+ oil temp.
need to be hooked up: AC (everything, probably just need a CA compressor) power steering lines, waiting on new hoses (old ones didnt like being bent) radiator &hoses, IC & piping, and longer hoses between the hardlines and z32 fuel pump

currently working on: wiring harness test fitted, marked, cut apart and in the process of fixing everything. it was horrible, and more than one piece of speaker wirea was in there
in the process of sizing all wires to be reloomed and hidden.

also, i found an ancient ninja secret to get a 'better than maaco' $50 paint job. after i finish it, i will post pics with all the progress

and i snagged a whole CA20 on ebay that (shipped) is just $15 more than if i were to get just a block from a junkyard shipped to me

The Story thusfar:
i spent some time in japan, and it is rediculous trying to import a silvia (and rediculously expensive)
so i stripped my s13 over a weekend and got all the bits back to the states (everything except the unibody frame, brakes, differential, steering rack, interior wiring loom, climate controls (wishing i had grabbed all of that now) and most of the left door ... the rest i brought home with me
this is it in japan

old updates
05Nov2005
i broke down, im going to just get the stainless turbo lines and be done with it, gives me the chance to reroute the oil to come from the filter return too (to get cooler, cleaner oil to the turbo). i will be picking up the lines next weekend, on the way down to san diego (where my new toy is waiting for me, an 84 hachi (sr5-gts converted, to almost stock gts specs) should be a fun gas-saver/practice car, ill post it up in 'my garage' sometime

also, if you have over 50k miles on your CA and no oil catch can, take off your intake plenum and runners and apply carb cleaner liberally (or take it to a solvent tank) there was a rediculous amount of gunk in there, now i am in the process of cleaning it up.

also i reccomend the dupont duplicolor vinyl+fabric to change the color of your carpet, i did my carpet today also (scraped off all the asbestos pads, cleaned, and colored, it looks great, ill post pics soon

next items to take care of:
1. try and work the coolant line out
2. z32 front and rear brakes: test fit the fronts with my wheels
then i am not going to paint the calipers gold as i had planned.. it is a little too bling for the exterior, i am going to polish the calipers, then clear enamel them to protect from corrosion. With a rebuild, and new shims+pads i should be looking pretty good for stopping power

but if anyone has an extra CA18DET turbo coolant return line (the one that goes behind the block) please let me know

20Oct2005
so it turns out that welding is fun and easy, the GTIr turbo is all ready to go, minus the coolant return hardline... just waiting for that

while i was at it, i polished the wastegate actuator to match the new welded polished bracket.. will probably paint them to prevent further corroosion

pics will be up soon of moving the car to its new home and recent work

21Sep2005
check out page 5, and new pics on all sections
got the engine all assembled, minus a few parts (working AC bracket, alternator bracket/tensioner, and main wiring harness)

14Oct2005
received all my brackets and harness, just need the turbo coolant return line, its on its way, then i can drop engine in

had to move locations, from the shop i was using to my garage, so i need to go buy an engine hoist now.

GTI-r pulsar T28 turbo installed, only thing left is to modify the wastegate actuator bracket to suit

28Oct2005
i still need a turbo coolant return line, im going to try and fix the old one (it broke about 2 inches from the banjo fitting, i will try to refit the banjo where the break happened... just so i can document a successful gtir turbo install on a CA with stock lines, just a modified bracket

the car and the majority of my parts are safely in my garage now. since im waiting on the coolant line, i decided to put some work into the intake plenum (they were filthy inside)
all clean now, im going to wait and see where i stand with the car running before i get a bigger throttlebody

also, found the color i actually wanted to do the engine in, but since its already enameled, ill just do the timing belt cover and valve covers, its a more classy bronze gold, not the candy gold i have now (the candy just isnt doing it for me like i thought it would)

06Nov2005
i got a lead on a nismo CA full counterweighted crank, if i can actually get it, it gives me an excuse to bore out my extra block (the crank has a larger stroke) and get some forged pistons to build a 30PSI monster

29Dec2005
so, while cleaning up the garage and clearing out the car (getting ready to resume work on it after moving locations) yesterday i found the extra coolant return line that i thought i hadnt brought back with me.. but the final details are almost worked out for the stainless lines and they should be getting shipped out to me in the next few days, so ill just wait out getting the nice lines before i install (still have plenty of other things i can get accomplished before i drop in the engine.

been mostly working on the new ae86, its an 84 with GTS conversion needs locks, steering rack and a little brake work, its really a 30mpg go-kart.. once i get some pics of it, it may get another cardomain page

9Mar2006
Its been awhile, major updates are happening as i can get the pictures in.

props to Taka Motorsports, Harp hooked up my Earls lines, fixed some length issues for free, then replaced a fitting that broke, also for free (Reccommended, link to his site is on my favorites on the left)

so, heres whats going on now, i just picked up the diff today (had a shop build it for me, i dont have the tools to do a complete from scratch diff build). bare stripped s13 pumpkin + new bearings+ new oil seals + CA s13 4.363:1 (48:11) ring+pinion + s15 HLSD + complete cleaning, shims and adjustments

and on tuesday the 7th i got the engine and tranny bolted into the car. the harness is all connected to the engine, just need to connect the ecu, fuel lines, heater hose, AC compressor, and FMIC/intake/intercooler plumbing.

after those things are in and running, then the z32 MAFs, PowerFC, new pumpkin, subframe spacers, Profec and new injectors go on for a dyno tune (havnt bought the injectors yet, next on the list)

also after its running, its time for paint, to get all the body panels back to the royal purple color. so ill have to put on the carbon doors before that (yes it will retain all power window/power lock door opening/closing abilities... but each door only weighs 10 kg (about 22 lbs) ill post up stats on stock door weight once i take them off and weigh the stock door shells) when i put in the new doors, the old silvia door harnesses go in too (with wires already in there for the power folding mirrors)

and i found some more pictures of the car in japan before i stripped it on an old laptop, ill post them up soon

also got a solid on the nismo crank, and a european 4 port head to go with the gsxr ITBs

but now its getting close, almost ready to start the car
