This is my 1978 Ford Fiesta. I bought it in the winter of 2003 from a guy I work with, and for some strange reason, he was embarrassed to drive it. He desperately wanted to get rid of it because it had been sitting for three months and he didn't want to get another ticket for having it parked. I jokingly offered to pull $50 from the ATM on lunch break for it, and he took it! I pulled up and it had 2 flat tires, so I pulled them off and headed to Wal-Mart and bought two 155/R12 tires and had them mounted. That's right 12's, 12 inch rims. I jumped the battery, she started right up, and drove back to get the other two tires mounted. The best part is they were $17 a piece. For $68 I had 4 brand new tires! I'm used to paying that for one. Anyway, here's a little education on Fiestas. (Not Festivas) They were imported from Europe in 1978 to combat the gas crisis in America. They lasted until 1980 when petrol finally came back through, and then killed off in America. The are very popular in Europe today. They still make them, though now they look like a mini-Focus. I had bought it to relieve myself of the burden of fueling a 1987 Grand Marquis every week, but I quickly found out it's a lot of fun to drive. It's pretty peppy for such a small 4-banger, it handles great like it's on rails. I became interested in learing more about it, and found out Fiestas have a modest following in the U.S. and they're great for SCCA road courses. There's even a few companies in the U.S. dedicated to souping the up. I looked into it and I decided that it would be fun to make this my project. It's different and probably could be one hell of a sleeper. So I decided I would try to make this car my little "Honda killer." In case any of you reading this are import tuner fans, don't be offended. I like them too, check out my garage and my Mazda Protege. What I don't like are the idiots on my town who take the Civic or Integra that mommy and daddy bought them, slap on an intake and a $20 Ebay exhaust and think they're Vin Diesel. I have some plans, and they're slowly getting there. After all, money doesn't grow on trees. Anyway, it's almost two years later, and she still runs like a champ, she's slowly evolving.
