These pages are about my 1990 Mazda Miata. The last setup had a 1.8L Engine, with a RacingMazda.com turbo kit, Electromotive TEC II computer, 1.8 Diff and axles, 1.8 ACT Clutch and many other upgrades. That setup went 11.8@124.7mph. The car was on the revlimiter before I hit the traps. I was launching VERY easy (2.3 60ft) because I had snapped 4 axles. The car should of run low 11's or high 10's with that trap speed.
The car is now getting a JDM 2.0L motor out of a Japanese Mazda 626. A RX7 Turbo II trans will be behind that motor with a ClutchMasters twin disk clutch between the two. Out of the trans will be a shortened Turbo II driveshaft into a Turbo II 8" rear end. Out of the rear end will be driveshaftshop.com axles to custom hubs. The power will be put to BFG Drag radials. The car should produce in excess of 400hp, and run Mid 10's at low 130mph trap speeds.
My Miata.. New Wheels now.
My Miata on top of Pikes Peak... Drove 1700 miles from home. Hows that for a daily driver.
Dyno sheet showing 315hp to the wheels. This was at 16 psi of boost. This gets the car to run about 118 in the 1/4 mile. When I turned the boost to 22psi I ran 124.7mph on the revlimiter before the traps. I am estimating my 370hp from this.
Dyno Sheet of FE3. 370hp and 323ftlb of torque. The Exhaust manifold was leaking a bit from the gasket. I think the heat made some of the bolts back off a bit. They were loose around runners 1 and 4 (ehxaust was leaking from both of those.) With that fixed it should pickup some midrange torque. The headgasket was also blown on this run from overheating due to a unseen coolant leak. The gasket was blown from cyl 2 and 3 to the water jackets. The head was warped close to .010. Pretty nasty. I cant wait to dyno it with a sealed exhaust manifold and headgasket.
Picture of the motor and turbo togeather about to go into car. I was in the middle fo putting the timing belt on while this pic was taken...
My 1.6 on the way out of the engine bay. Car went 12.7@108 with this setup.. 230whp
My car in the move from New Orleans to San Antonio.. It fits good in a 24' box truck.. Thats one way to move a car....
