Lighting mods and how to DIY, 9004 to 9007 headlight conversion

I began to change the color of my car's lighting. Here's some pics.

First, I've replaced the stock 9004 bulb by the Sylvania
Cool blue 9004CB bulb sold at Canadian Tire.
Sylvania claim a 3500 degree Kelvin color temperature for the 9004CB.
Cool blue on passenger side and stock on driver side.

Then, I've put yellow 1157 bulbs in the corner lights.

Next thing I've done, is the clear front bumper lights whit yellow bulbs and JDM Black clear Altezza tail light with yellow 194 bulbs in the side markers.

Since I'm not satisfied by the 9004 headlight bulb beam patern and power output, I've done a 9004 to 9007 bulb conversion. Even if the Sylvania 9004 Cool blue is good upgrade over the stock 9004, they are simply no match against a 9007.

9007 vs 9004CB

The 9007 have beter beam patern due to filament position in the bulb. Power output gain an extra 10 watts on low beam, 55W instead of 45W for the 9004 bulb. High beam as same power of 65W.
Plus, the 9007 bulbs I've bought, have a color temperature of 4850 degree Kelvin, so they look WAY beter than my previous Sylvania.

To make the 9007 work you need a new harnest that reverse the low and ground wires and you will have to cut or break 2 tinny nubs in the bottom of the headlight housing so the bulb can fit in.
I've use a pocket knife to cut the nubs.

Here is where they were.

I made myself the harnest by taking appart my stock 9004 bulbs and solder a new 9004/9007 harnest to it. Then I used some GOOP glue to prevent electric shortcuts. That way, if a 9007 bulb goes out, I just have to remove my harnest to install a temporary 9004 bulb until I buy a replacement.

Here is how it look. 9007 on passenger side and Sylvania 9004CB on driver side.

If you want better output or use higher wattage bulbs, you can make this harnest that draw power directly from the battery and use the factory harnest to trigger the low and high beam relays.
