ENGINE

About 3 months after buying the car, the engine did finally die. Took it to the theatre one night, ran fine. Came out after the movie, wouldn't idle. I had found a guy that would rebuild an engine, and the process started after that.

The old engine coming out:

And the new one going in:

After a few problems with core parts, but eventually we had a working engine. With the engine going in, I installed some Racing Beat headers and pre-silencer.

Update as of 2007:

So I finally got around to tinkering with the engine. It had been a long time coming.

I have removed much of the bulk in the engine bay, and had a chance to repaint the engine while fixing a low oil pressure problem. I also added on the K&N cone filter replacing the air box. I installed the electric fan, getting rid the plastic fan shroud.

I also installed an Apexi SAFC Neo, as well as an air/fuel gauge and took out the power steering. I had someone do the rest of the exhaust from the pre-silencer back. It is 2.5" to a Volt muffler.

Next is Interior Modifications

Awesome RX. I am looking at potentially buying an 86 RX-7 NA 5 speed car myself. Are your hp and performance numbers calculated or documented? I want to do similar mods and am curious what kind of hp and performance I can get without adding a turbo. SWEET gauges too btw! Were those hard to install?
