From the engine I will move to the rear suspension, I originally started with fitting and EVO III rear end.
Before I cut out the original rear crossmember to fit the full E3 one.
Even though the EVO cross member will bolt into these cars,
I decided I did not want the added weight of the EVO crossmember and diff mounting. Therefore I started looking at other options, The 1st gen DSM is readily available but the front of the diff is not easy to bolt to but the second gen housing is. This turned out to be the most compact and lightest of the mounting options.
On these cars you need to cut into the floorpan to gain enough clearance to fit the diff.
The first of these two images shows about the minimum to cut out, the second is what I needed to do since this car was recieving a twenty gallon fuel tank.
Now these are not the finish weld pics, I will try to add them soon.
Here are a few early shots from the underside.
And these are of how the underside came out with the tank fitted.
This give the car a nice flat bottom.
