.This is one awesome old man truck that is turning into a beauty!
I bought this truck for $550 and it was pretty much stock at the time. I added side toolboxes, Midland CB and 2, 3 foot antennas and some decals. I also took off the old man running boards and leaving them off for good. I am working on fixing the rust on both sides and getting it painted. It has the stock LE9 305 with a four barrel carb and a Turbo 350 tranny.

This is my first truck and I have been very happy with it. It has a 5.0 Liter V8 and it runs great. It needs new valve cover gaskets because they leak after it has been running for a while. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has about what I should do with the truck. Enjoy! I will try to keep you up to date on what I am doing with it.

Here is a picture of the interior. Pretty plain but with a tilt steering wheel and gages. I am going to get some awesome John Deere floormats for Christmas to make it look great. The guy I bought it from used this truck to pull his fifth wheel camper and he sold it to me because he said it doesn't have a low enough gear. The rear axle ratio comes out to a 2.73 and I'm surprised he even got that camper moving!. He also put rear airbags in to help it support the extra weight. It has leaf and coils in the rear and I can jack the back end up easily with an air compressor. The exhaust fell off while I was driving it and so I had to cobble together a glasspack exhaust. I went to O'reilly auto parts and got a 24" Thrush glasspack. I think it is too quiet though and right now I am saving up for a true dual exhaust system. It will look awesome!

Here is a picture of the truck when I first bought it. It came with a hard tonneau cover and some lame running boards. I thought it looked pretty sweet with the rally wheels and all of the trim rings were intact. I have since painted the rims gloss black and took off all of the trim, mudflaps, and emblems. I have it stripped down pretty well and looking plain. I am going to fix the rusted rocker panels, front fenders and things like that. I believe the truck has a new box and doors because the paint underneath does not match the originals. I will try to get some more recent pictures up soon. I found a really cool website for all you 73-87 fans out there.

Here is a picture of one of rims. I'm sorry its very dirty from wet sanding and its kind of a bad picture.

Here is a picture of the truck about half way into the restoration process. As you can see i've been experimenting with different colors of paint. I have decided to keep it simple and I am painting it a two-tone of Gloss Regal red with Gloss black on the bottom of the 2-tone. Right now I am completing the filling of the dents with bondo and sanding for a smooth finish. There isnt any more rust on the truck. It is all fixed and will be sanded thouroughly before paint so you wont even be able to tell that there was rust.

Well here is the truck completely rust free and painted with some of the accessories on. Trim and logos are next and some other things. Tool boxes are to be painted black to match the 2-tone

Here is the truck all completed. I made my own mudflaps for the front by buying some cheap generic front mudflaps and sticking on some John Deere decals. I am still working on the back ones and they are 14x22 inches. Huge! I will try to get a picture of it in the snow sometime because it looks awesome. I just wish it was a 4X4. I appreciate your comments and really enjoy reading them. This is one awesome old man truck that is turning into a beauty!

My dad went to advanced auto parts and bought the lights, you can choose from different styles if youd like, then he evenly spaced them and drilled the holes for the screws, then he drilled another hole for the wires from each light to run through, spliced all the wires together behind the running boards and ran the wire to a toggle switch mounted in the cab!!! if you need any more advice let me know...later man...nice truck by the way

I added a holley 650 vac/secondary carb edlebrock performer egr intake, headman headers a 272 comp cams high energy cam, a reworker HEI dist. ACCEL 8.8 sparkplug wires, no smog pump highflow waterpump. On the exhaust side dont go any bigger than 2.5, you need some back pressure for it to run right. You will also need a stall converter, I'm runing a PTC 2800.
